Apricot/Cranberry Chutney

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2014
This is one of the first recipes I'd ever saved to my recipe box, years ago, when I first discovered Allrecipes. I make it every year at Thanksgiving. My family requests it because it is fabulous! It looks beautiful served in a crystal or glass bowl with a scalloped spoon. YOU'LL NEVER GO BACK TO CANNED CRANBERRIES AGAIN! Oh yes, I always use less vinegar, just a 1/4 cup. (Very important!)

Rhubarb Crunch

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2014
So good!! I used 6 cups of rhubarb and added 1/2 cup extra to the rhubarb mix but I probably did not need to add the extra sugar because it was nice and sweet. Great base recipe!

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2014
Everyone loved it! You can't go wrong with Copper River reds but my goodness, this is one to save!! Reminds me of teriyaki beef jerky. Even a girl who says she doesn't like salmon loved it. I'd removed all the skin first and was worried it would fall through the grates of my grill. Nope, it was perfect!!

Crispy Rosemary Chicken and Fries

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2013
I used dried herbs since I did not have fresh on hand. Other than that, I followed the recipe. I did remove skin first because I always do. With the left over drippings, I made gravy. My sister-in-law and I kept sayin mmmmmmmm...... Mmmmmmm...... Mmmmmmmm., the whole time we were eating. Saving this one to my recipe box!

Oatmeal Pancakes II

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
This is such an excellent recipe. I use it all the time. The pancakes are pretty thin but the flavor is wonderful. So easy too. I never have buttermilk so I just add a little lemon juice to the milk. Perfect.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
I made this for our Christmas Eve party and my brother-in-law and sister almost got in a fight over it because he kept saying over and over again, "this is the best pumpkin bread I have ever had! What's wrong with yours? It's got soggy chunks in it or something. You need to get this recipe from your sister." He is right though, it was the best any of us had ever had.

Chuck and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
Really easy and really yummy! The roasted meat came out tender and the veggies I used, carrots, red potatoes, and celery, chopped, came out perfectly cooked. I covered the meat with pepper and garlic for the first hour. My whole family loved it, including baby!

Rhubarb Bounce

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2008
Wow! This is really good! The bottom comes out gooey and carmely. Then, there's a layer of moist cake with sweet, tender, rhubarb on top. I use Allrecipes because of the reviews and surprised myself by trying a recipe that hadn't yet been reviewed. The name is what dared me to try it, and am I ever glad I did. This is a great, easy recipe to try if you want a little change from the usual cobblers and crisps.

Herb-Crusted Chuck Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
I thought it was good but my husband would give it 5 stars. He said it was the best steak (I used chuck steak) that I had ever made. He actually compared it to something he had eaten at a renown resteraunt near where we live. He talked about it all night and while we were eating he kept telling our kids "sit still and eat this excellent meal your mother made!" It was funny. I will definetly be making this again. Oh, one more important thing, I added carrots and red potatoes and they dried out while baking. I wouldn't suggest doing that.

Grandma's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
I thought this tasted kind of weird. I did everything by the book except for the green pepper. It tasted too salty and strong, like I needed to add lots of water but couldn't. I think if I make this again, I will leave out the vinegar, 1/2 the mustard, 1/2 the ketchup and add a half cup of barbeque sauce. Oh, and 1/2 the cloves for sure and forget the salt.

Soft Gingerbread Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
I thought these cookies were quick and easy! The flavor is mild gingerbread with a soft, yet firm texture, which made for easy decorating. I loved them and my kids loved them. We used the decorater's frosting made with butter, milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar found here at allrecipes. That frosting is sweet enough to make the cookies perfect. I don't know why some people had a hard time working with the dough. I divided it in half and rolled it out using flour as needed. Quickly cut them out and baked them. Could not of been more simple. In a nutshell: If you need a quick, easy, yummy gingerbread cookie recipe, this is it!

Rhubarb Bread I

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2006
OH MY GOSH!!! This is excellent. I made muffins, a loaf of bread and a cake all using the same exact recipe. They all turned out delish!. Here's my description of the bread. Sweet and moist with chunks of tart rubarb. I made it for a family get together and everyone loved it. Rises more without the topping but if you like it sweeter, the topping is perfect.

Delicious Whole Wheat Fruitcake Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2004
I did like this as a cookie. I only used raisins, sliced almonds, and diced, dried apricots for the fillers. It is a sweet, chewy cookie that I'm sure is very low fat since it does'nt have any eggs or oil. Be sure to grease your cookie sheet and I suggest rolling the dough with lightly buttered hands to form balls rather than just spooning them onto the cookie sheet.
