About this Cook
As a teacher, I bring a LOT of work home. So, I love simple slow-cooker recipes and marinades (a lot of flavor, with minimal time commitment.) However, when I have the time, I LOVE to try and invent new recipes, especially Italian dishes.
My favorite things to cook
Any kind of Italian dish!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Polish grandma always makes fish and homemade pierogies for Christmas-yum!
My cooking triumphs
When I offered to make a few dishes for Thanksgiving 2004, my grandma and father said, "Sure." I think they perceived me as having little to no cooking skills. When they tried the dishes I made, I could see they realized that I could actually cook.
My cooking tragedies
When I was 14, I decided to make minestrone soup (one of my favorites.) For some inexplicable reason, when I looked at the recipe, my eyes read "1 tsp," but my brain processed "1 cup" of basil. Needless to say, it was the foulest minestrone ever made.

Steak Sauce
Easy to make and pretty good, too! I added a bit of cumin and lessened the ketchup because I prefer it less sweet. Thanks!

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style
Like some other members, I use minced garlic since it's a bit easier. If you are a garlic nut, like I am, the garlic "juice" give s nice kick, too. I recommend combining the ingredients in a blender/food processor before pouring in a baking dish. This is a new Thanksgiving tradition with my family as a dip for the football games!

Grandma's Five Cup Salad
This very like my mom's "summer salad." Without fail, this dish is always gone at the end of a picnic. I omit the coconut per my mom's tradition, but other than that, this is a summer classic!
