Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2014
I have made this twice. My husband said it is the best he ever tasted and all the guys at his work ask if I have made any more. I only made a coupe changes and it is just personal preference. Reduced sugar to about 1 cup brown sugar and 1 cup white sugar. Added 1 1/2 cups pecan, 2 cups raisins, 2 teaspoons baking powder, doubled ginger, double cinnamon, added 1 tbl cloves. Baked in 9x13 cake pan

Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2014
I think this could be good with some changes. It was just way too spicy for my family. The spice totally covered up the cheese flavor. I usually love Chef John's recipe but this one disappointed me. Sorry.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2014
Husband loved this and my BIL said it was the best he ever had. I did take the advice of other reviewers and made a few changes. I used 1 cup of lactaid milk(lactose intolerant) and 1 teaspoon of lemon instead of the butter milk, added 1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg and boiled the raisins in orange juice. Will definitely be making this again. Thanks for the recipe.

Easy Slow Cooker Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
The ribs were fall off the bone tender but the sauce was too bland. We dipped it in Sweet Baby Ray's. I will try a different BBQ recipe from this site. Will not make this again.

Tried this recipe as a quick fix for a hubby with a pumpkin sweet tooth. He said it was so so. I made it exactly as written. Won't make again.

Chef John's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2014
I don't eat Sloppy Joes but my husband said these were the best and I can make them anytime. He said they tasted even better the next day in his lunch. Thanks Chef John for another great recipe.

Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2014
I tried these and they were good. My husband liked them also. They were missing something for a 5 star rating. I love scalloped potatoes but I have not found a recipe better than my Aunt's. She will hardly ever share a recipe and if she does she usually leaves one ingredient out so no one can make it better than her.

Chef John's Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2014
This recipe is excellent. Husband loved it. Thought it was a little spicy BUT I doubled the hot pepper flakes...my fault. My husband said I can make this any time. I did use equal amount of hot sausage and beef. Also, The tomato based sauce is so useful for other recipes. I used it for a base recipe for vegetables with rice. This is recipe is so good. Chef John's recipes as a whole are very good. I always look for recipes of his.
