I am a student at Camosun College in Victoria, B.C. my major is Biology, but my weekend hobby/passion is cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I'm a real health nut. Many of my recipes fall under low fat, low calorie or high fibre. I like to develop my own recipes, many of which I will be posting sooner or later, some being quite simple and fast, others being rather time consuming and tricky.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A lot of my cooking skills originated from my mom. She started my whole passion for cooking. I accidentally have the same extra-lean hamburger recipe as my mom....I told her what I put in mine, and as it turned out, it was all the same stuff she used too:) We have a diverse culture background, so a lot of our traditions with food just involve making foods native to our origin countries (i.e. goulash, perogy)

None since I've been smart enough to cook properly.....but when I was 6 or 7 my sister and I had this genius idea for chocolate filled pancakes.....that was a flop.

Quinoa Tuna Casserole
This was really good and really quite filling. I cut the recipe in half and made a small one for our family of 3. We had steamed chard on the side of it, very good!

Peppy's Pita Bread
These were great! Very puffy and very tasty. Mine did not come out very big, so I think next time I will roll them a bit thinner before baking, and also maybe make fewer than 8 per batch. We will definitely make these again though!

My Best Clam Chowder
Awesome! I added about 6 pieces of chopped bacon cooked with drippings, and added a touch of liquid smoke...this was my first clam chowder and we loved it! Thanks :)
