Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2012
A delicious, tasty soup. The only thing I omitted was the spinach (didn't have any on hand), but otherwise followed the recipe to a tee, and it was great. Our winters don't last very long here, but this is a recipe I may consider making year round. :) Thanks for a wonderful recipe!

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2012
Very good!! Made cake without changing anything and it was moist and dee-licious. Played around with it later and added chopped strawberries (along with the blueberries) and a tsp. of almond extract to batter and was even better! Also made a quick glaze to make it look prettier and everyone enjoyed it. A good, versatile recipe!

Cracked Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
These cookies were YUMMY!! I was a little hesitant to make cookies since I very rarely make them, but these cookies were easy to make and tasted awesome. Family was eating them almost as fast as I was making them! The only problem I had was that I left them in the oven a little longer than the recipe called for since they were lookin' a little pale, so they turned out a little harder than I would've prefered. Still delicious, though. Thanks for a great recipe!! :)

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
With all the great reviews this cake has, I decided to make this for my little sister's b-day. I was a tad disappointed with the outcome of it, however. The cake texture was okay (though I added a bit more liquid to the batter), didn't have a problem with the cake sticking to the pan or falling apart as others did, the color and presentation was beautiful, and the chocolate flavor was pretty strong, but I think what lacked was a little more sweetness to it. Also, though the cake was very soft, I personally like mine a little more moist. I frosted the cake with "Creamy Chocolate Frosting" from this site, which definitely helped with the sweetness factor. Overall a good recipe, but I'll probably try this again with some more sugar and possibly some oil/applesauce next time. :)

Joy's Prizewinning Trifle

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
I had never made trifle before and wanted to reason to make one since I had bought a trifle bowl, and I am SO glad I picked this one!! The pudding mixture was so yummy!!! I didn't use kiwi (didn't have any), and don't really care for pound cake or angel food cake (as others suggested), so I used good ol' Nillas instead of cake, and it turned out really, really good. Presentation was pretty and taste was great!! Thanks for sharing a wonderful recipe!! :)

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
Great recipe! I, too, made some minor modifications to suite my preference, however. I added 3 crushed garlic cloves to the meat along with 1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce and a dash of Emril spice. The biggest change though was that I used ground turkey instead of beef, which made the texture a little too soft, but the taste great. Very, very yummy recipe!

Deviled Eggs I

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2008
YUM! I made a couple of very minor changes, simply to adjust to my taste. I substituted about 1/4 of miracle whip for the same amount of mayo (I love the sweet-zingyness of it), and added a tad of vinegar as well. I also just sprinkled the paprika on at the end, as suggested by others. I made one batch to try it out and am now making a double batch for later. :) Thanks for a yummy recipe!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
If I can rate this recipe higher I would! Oh my gosh, these things were absolutely delicious!! I used riduculously overripe bananas, and the muffins turned out super moist! I tasted them as soon as soon as they came out of the oven, and passed little pieces around. The muffins hadn't even cooled and they were already gone! This is the the perfect banana muffin recipe!!!

Key Lime Pie VIII

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
Wow! As is, this recipe is VERY tangy. I went over the reviews before I made it and it seemed to be pretty good. I made the pies and though I did notice that they were very sour, I made an unsuccessful attempt to mellow out the sourness by putting extra whipped topping on the pies. Though my family and I downed the pies, not one of us managed to keep a straight face while we ate it (we all kept laughing at each other's pucker-faces). Good recipe, but next time I'll definitely cut down on the lime juice. :)

Spanish Flan

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2007
This was my first attempt at flan, and I was so proud when the raves began after everyone tasted it (even my sister who doesn't care much for flan said it was really, really good). I, too, did the water bath as suggested by others, and though the texture wasn't as smooth as I hoped it would be, it was still delicious. At first I was a little worried 'cause the top was a little dry during baking, but once inverted, the persentation was gorgeous. I personally found the taste was a lot better after a day or two, so I'll make it a couple of days in advance from now on. Haven't tried any other flan recipe, but with this one on hand, not sure that I want to... :)

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
Absolutely delicious!! Family loved it, and it was even better the next day! Only changes I made were more meat than called for (2 lb.), and I used the oven-ready noodles (PARTIALLY cooked in salted water), which helped to absorb some of the liquid when baking. This was the first time my lasagna stayed together and actually looked like lasagna when I served it. :) Thanks for a great recipe!

Cocoa for a Crowd

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
Very easy, and with a little tweeking, very yummy. Didn't make the cocoa for an actual crowd, but changed measurements for 6 servings, and it was good. I added a bit of cinnamon to my cup and it tasted like the mexican hot chocolate my family loves. The kids added vanilla coolwhip to their cup for a different taste that was good too. Overall, an easy and a very good recipe to experiment with.
