Delilah's Frosted Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2004
I doubled this recipe and used half butter and half butter-flavored crisco. They turned out perfectly-even better than I had expected. I didn't even need flour to roll them out, I just used wax paper, rolled them out to about a one half inch thickness, and as an earlier reviewer had suggested, baked them at 375 degrees (for 10 minutes) , and had gorgeous, soft sugar cookies for the holidays.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2004
Okay, so my dad LOVES lemon meringue pie. I mean, loves. So when i made this pie and he called me the next day to say (sniff) that it was the best he'd ever had, I knew this recipe was a keeper!

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2004
This rating may not be fair. I had already peeled the sweet potatoes and decided to make this. Perhaps that is why the pie was a bugarish green. (Only a mom can use the word bugarish with true accuracy) . It did however, taste good. Not great, good. I'll try making it the way it's supposed to be done and review again.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2004
Okay, so I'm a bit obsessed! Ever since the day I heard my husband longingly say, "Oh, you had MOM'S pancakes? " with a truckload of envy in his voice, I had to find recipe better than hers. At last, I think I've done it. Now..if I could just learn to fold tee shirts and clean like her, I'd be a saint!

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2004
Great taste- but the color was a little off-putting. I've only had the pre-made pudding types before, so the grayish-yellow color freaked me out a bit. But, as the four stars indicate, it tasted AWESOME!

Easy Candy Yams

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2004
I give these four stars for taste and one for the directions. Having never made candied yams before, I didn't know what is apparently obvious to the pro-this recipe calls for CANNED sweet potatoes. I naively chopped fresh sweet potatoes and THREE HOURS (not 30 minutes) later, they were delicious! Please, avoid my frustration. If you are not a yam-making pro, remember, either cook the potatoes first, or use canned.

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2004
These were awesome!!! My family and I always go crazy for mashed potatoes during the holiday-so these made me the most popular person at the dinner table! So flavorful! So moist! The only bad news is that I assume it would take about 30 hours of Pilates to burn these off!
