Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
I have tried so many recipes for chocolate chip cookies. My all time favorite recipe is from America's test kitchen and I use it most of the time with great results. However since that recipe can be a bit complicated I decided to try a new one. This recipe was super simple and the results were still really good. So when I want to make cookies quickly... this will be a great recipe to have on hand!

Sugar Snap Pea and Berry Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2011
The combination of ingredients was good. However I wasn't pleased with the dressing. Maybe it would have been better with lemon like others have added. But it didn't turn out well for me. I think I would have been better off just using a store bought raspberry vinaigrette.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2011
Loved this! Used a rotisserie chicken and a little garlic and a little more seasoning. I also recommend trying the recipe "Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust" from this site. So good!!!

This is the only recipe I use! Fantastic and so easy. I usually use it for berry pies but last night I tried it with Chicken Pot pie lX from this site. YUM!

Cherry-Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
This pie has a really nice flavor and wasn't too tart or too sweet. The whole family loved it! I made the crust from scratch using my favorite recipe from here: "Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust" but otherwise followed the recipe as written. Fantastic!!

Baked Bar-be-Que Chicken

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
I don't think this would not be something I would make again. Like another reviewer appropriately stated... "this is steamed chicken with sauce" and to me it tasted just like that. The recipe gets some points from me though because it was so easy to make and the chicken turned out very moist.

Garlic Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2005
Great! I cut the potatoes in smaller bite size pieces and then was able to cook them for the amount of time that is stated in the recipe. We liked the subtle flavor of the lemon juice but I used just half of a lemon. I also put the potatoes under the brolier for a few minutes at the end to get them a little more crunchy - yum.

Blueberry Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2005
From my experience blueberry pies can often turn out runny. This one was no exception. To try and avoid a runny pie I added 3 Tablespoons of cornstarch to my 4 cups of blueberries and we waited to cut into it for 2 hours. Unfortunately mine was still a bit runny - maybe my blueberries were just extra juicy! Next time I will use more cornstarch and increase the cooling time just to be sure. The taste was definately good and we liked the crumb topping. To avoid any strong lemon chunks I mixed the flour mixture with a pastry cutter before adding in the blueberries and it worked really well.

Blueberry Scones

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2005
I am giving this 4 stars because it had a great blueberry flavor which we loved. I do agree with other reviewers this recipe did not turn out like a traditional scone. It was more like a dense muffin. But we liked it! If you are looking for a traditional scone - look elsewhere. The dough was very wet and impossible to divide into wedges as the recipe states. Instead, scoop large dropfulls onto a cookie sheet it will work just as well.

Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2005
This pie tasted great. I just wish I had read the reviews more carefully before making. This recipe really does need more cornstarch! Mine turned out too runny. I will make again though and just remember to increase the cornstarch.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2005
I was raised a vegetarian and I have never cooked or even eaten pork chops before. My husband has been asking me to make some for quite some time so I finally decided to give it a try. This recipe was so simple and tasty. My husband gave it an A+ and said they were the best pork chops he has ever had! I would recommend following the recipe precisely with the exception of cutting down on the cooking time in the oven. Our "large" pork chops were done in just 45 minutes - if I had cooked them any longer they would have been dry. A hour a half in the oven seems way too long.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2005
This recipe is superb. I halved the recipe for my family of four and had plenty - plus leftovers! I chose to use just Prego sausage and garlic and it gave a very meaty hearty flavor which my husband really liked. It turned out tasting like a really great lasagna but was sooooo much easier to make and so much easier for my kids to eat than traditional lasagna. Like lasagna, just be sure to keep your dish covered until the last 5 minutes so that it stays nice and moist. Very Yummy! Goodbye lasagna hello baked ziti!

Kabob Marinade

Reviewed: May 19, 2005
My husband and I love to use marinades and love to grill. We marinaded our meat overnight and thought this marinade compared to the many we have tried in the past was just too salty. I did like it because I had all of the ingredients already on hand in my kitchen. I just think it is too salty and not tasty enough to use on high quality meat.

Caramel Brownies II

Reviewed: May 19, 2005
This is the first caramel brownie recipe I have tried. I followed the recipe closely but just varied it with milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet. My husband really liked them and took them to work to proudly share. I thought they looked great and tasted even better. The caramel unwrapping and melting was probably the most tedious part of the recipe. I did take others advice and flattened the top brownie layer into discs so I did not have to spread the thick batter over the caramel layer. I just wonder if the results would have been just as good using a more no fuss caramel sauce in the middle like some other recipes I have read called for - I guess I will just have to try and see! All I know is I will definitely be making this recipe again.

Broccoli and Carrot Lasagna

Reviewed: May 19, 2005
I left out the rosemary but otherwise followed the recipe precisely. I really don't think I will make this recipe again. I have bought frozen vegetable lasagna in the past that has tasted much better than this recipe. I love cream of mushroom soup but it seemed like an unusual flavor to have in lasagna. It was good but none of my guests raved about it.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2005
Good! I was a bit nervous about using 1/2 tsp cloves but it really tasted good and wasn't too strong when combined with all the other ingredients. When you bake these cookies just right they have a nice crisp outside and a soft chewy center - very good.

Pasta Pomodoro

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2005
Unfortunately, I was distracted the first time I made it and actually cooked the angel hair 8 minutes as suggested in the directions - so it was really mushy. However, I knew I liked the taste of the sauce so we tried it again cooking the pasta about 3 minutes until al dente. I took others advice and didn't use two (8oz) pkgs. - one package is plenty for the amount of sauce. The sauce has and light fresh flavor - good!

Feta Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2005
Excellent! I think this is a very versatile recipe and that you can be pretty creative in what you add to the feta and still have great results. We really like using plain feta and adding fresh basil and sundried tomatoes. This recipe will remain a staple in our household! Yum!

Korean BBQ Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2005
Really good marinade, especially if you like spicy foods. We couldn't find "hot chile paste" but used red chili sauce so maybe that is why ours was extra hot. Due to the heat we decided to do a second non-spicy marinade for the kids. We also took others advice and reserved a small amount of marinade. We thickened the reserved sauce with cornstarch and drizzled it over our chicken rice and broccoli bowls. Really good!

Make Ahead Manicotti

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2005
This were pretty good. I have used other better manicotti recipes in the past. Although it requires another step I think pre-boiling noodles is needed. These just seemed too dry with a bit too much spinach. Don't plan on trying these again.
