About this Cook
I come from a long line of creative bakers and great chefs! I enjoy cooking, but I adore baking and have deamed it an outlet for letting off steam and winding down from a hard day. When I'm in the kitchen... it's MY time!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I worked as an ice cream cake decorator for nearly 3 years while I was getting my college degree and that got my creative juices flowing in the kitchen. Now, I look for occasions to create some kind of sweet treat to share. When I am cooking meals, I tend to get bored easily and find myself trying new recipes on a pretty regular basis.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies! We make it all! For about 3-4 days before Christmas my mom, sister, sister-in-laws, grandma, and I spend time baking up a storm. On Christmas Eve we deliver festive cookie plates and tins to family, friends, and neighbors. As my own family creates their own traditions, I have added some of my favorite recipes to our cookie plates.
My cooking triumphs
I just love trying new things! I even have my own website where I have published numerous recipes from family and friends and of course, from my own kitchen. Luckily, my husband enjoys being my cooking/baking guinea pig!
My cooking tragedies
I haven't lit anything on fire (cross my fingers), but I have burned my fair share of meals, cookies, and other baked goods. It's always a tragedy when you have to start over on something you've worked so hard on!

Easy OREO Truffles
These are sooo good. Very rich, but a great gift for any chocolate lover! I used my smallest cookie scoop (abt a tbsp and a half) to make them all the same size. Wish I had an even smaller one because these are almost too rich to eat a whole one by yourself at the size suggested. I didn't have any problems forming them into balls right after mixing it all together, but I did refrigerate them for a couple of hours after forming into balls. I used Hershey's Milk Chocolate Chips. The chocolate bark didn't work well for me. It hardened to quickly because I was dipping cold truffles into it. It took me a couple tries to get them “pretty” when I was pulling them out of the chocolate. Don't get discouraged... it just takes a little practice. (My hubby didn't mind eating the "ugly" ones! Ha ha) These taste best if you leave them sit out for 10-15 minutes before eating. Using forks to pull out of the melted chocolate worked great! These were even better the next day when the cookie crumbs had a chance to soften. ***UPDATE 01-18-11*** Bought a 1.5 tsp scoop. PERFECT SIZE! You might wanna halve the batch because this smaller scoop made almost 100 truffles (I think it was like 94).

Disappearing Marshmallow Brownies II
SO GOOD! These are delicious and VERY rich! My family loved them. I added an extra 1/2 cup of marshmallows and made sure to really grease the sides of the pan (the marshmallows like to stick). They fall apart if you eat them hot (but they are sure good hot). Let them cool completely in the pan and they cut into bars really easily. I cooked for 18-20 minutes. Keep an eye on the marshamllows or they burn.

Flourless Chocolate Cake I
This didn't turn out for me. It was a little dry and WAY TOO RICH. Tasted like eating chocolate chips straight outta the bag... One bite was great, but a whole slice was too much for me!
