Broiled Scallops

Reviewed: May 30, 2005
I love scallops, but these weren't anything too special.

Wilted Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2005
This recipe was great! I also added some fresh mushrooms. I would agree with another reviewer that you shouldn't mix the bacon in because it did get soggy, but other than that it was a real crowd pleaser.

Honey Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2005
These were a really good variation for red potatos. I carmelized the onion first with some garlic and also doubled the sauce which I would strongly suggest.

Lori's Famous Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2005
I followed the recipe exactly (well almost, the only small change I made was using less oil) and they were excellent! Highly recommended.

Grilled Salmon II

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2005
Everyone enjoyed it and the flavor was great. I doubled both the garlic and the brown sugar, used fresh grated ginger and used olive oil instead of peanut oil. I marinaded it in a Ziploc for a little over 6 hours. Although I did appreciate how the flavor complimented the salmon I personally enjoy a bit bolder flavor so I will try marinading it overnight and probably add even a little more garlic. Thanks for the great recipe!

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2005
This was a great quick recipe. I followed advice from previous reviewers and pounded the chicken and cut it into pieces and also added mushrooms. I also used the full 1/2 cup of balsamic and it was perfect. It seemed to just be a matter of letting it simmer long enough (the full 15 minutes)to tone down the owerpwering taste of the vinegar. I also sauteed roasted red peppers and a clove of garlic along with the onion. Next time I'll probably try artichoke too as some suggested. Thanks for the recipe!

Torsk

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2005
It did taste a little bit like lobster but overall it was bland. The family agreed it wasn't anything special. I don't think I will make this again.

Salmon with Dill

Overall the flavors were tasty together. Next time less dill and a tiny bit more onion powder. Very simple.

French Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
I thought this came out very well and my family agreed. It was a bit dense but not too bad. I sprinkled a bit of sea salt on top halfway through cooking, probably not french but it was still pretty good.

Tomato Soup I

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2005
The soup had very good flavor but it was a bit too rich for my liking without something else substantial added. Next time I'll either use half and half and also add lobster meat. Overall a very good recipe.

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2005
Everyone enjoyed this. I made it exactly as the directions stated and it came out very well but I agree with another reviewer that you should just taste the honey mustard as you make it because although it was fine I think it would have also been good a little less sweet.

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2005
This was such an easy recipe and I only made a few changes that really made it wonderful. At the advice of other reviewers I sauteed some onion and two cloves of garlic in a separate pan until slightly browned and then added the balsamic and wine with a pinch of sugar. I simply let this cook down a bit and then served this on the side because I didn't want to take a chance and end up ruining the staek if noone liked it. It turns out everyone decided to just pour it over anyway it was so good. SO easy!

Mushroom Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2005
I'm not a big meatloaf fan but my whole family loved this as did I. I sauteed the mushrooms and onions with two large cloves of garlic and also made some garlic flavored breadcrumbs. I also make a glaze type topping from another meatloaf recipe which was 2/3 cup ketchup, 4 Tablespoons dijon mustard and 4 Tablespoons brown sugar and poured it on top before baking. It was reall great and complimented the flavor nicely. Will make again for sure.

Homemade Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2005
I added sea salt and garlic before cooking. It came out pretty good considering the short amount of time it took to prepare. The presentation was also beautiful.
