Best Bruschetta Ever

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2010
Made this with a splash of balsamic vinegar and it is perfection! My best advice? Make double or triple batches.... you will never have enough... it just disappears.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
This truly is a perfect sugar cookie icing. Used recipe exactly as is and it was perfect! Hard on the outside, soft on the inside, shiny glossy. I have never decorated cookies before so I wasn't the best in terms of a steady hand, but I still think they came out looking pretty okay since the incing was so awesome.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
I didn't care for the taste but I am not a big balsalmic vinegar fan. My daughter on the other hand thought it was great and ate most of it herself. I'll continue my search for a better recipe though....

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
Okay, when I first made this and tasted it myself, I thought, "eh....it's okay...." Then I took it to a party that I catered and people couldn't stop eating it! They were actually fighting over it! lol. So it's definitely a keeper!

I am not a coconut fan AT ALL but these were really good. Nice sweet taste and extremely easy to make. Addictive though so be careful!

Bourbon Pecan Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
This is a recipe I have used for years but never made the sauce. Tried the sauce a couple of weeks ago and it is awesome! It can be used on lots of food. I was using leftovers on mashed potatoes, rice, fresh aspargus, in a broccoli stir fry.... Very Yummy and Decadent!

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
Perfecto! Loved them! My 15 year old daughter made these and they were awesome! My oven is a bit wacky so we started checking them at 5 minutes and found that they were best pulled out at seven minutes and cooked on the top rack.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
Awesome! I cooked mine too long so the potatoes were not chunky but it was still a-ok with my family and the chunkiness was still there after the bacon, green onions, and cheddar cheese were added. YUM!

Denise's Peanut Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
Way better than a lot of recipes I tried. I agree that is more American than Thai but the title isn't :Thai Peanut Chicken", it is "Denise's Peanut Chicken" so thanks go to Denise! Update: this is a regular weekly meal in our house now. Very quick and easy to make on a working girl weeknight with the new steamed rice in the frozen vegetable section of the grocery store. I can do this from start to finish in 20 minutes flat and it's a very forgiving recipe. I use creamy peanut butter just because it's a pantry staple and quicker.

Slow Cooker Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
These are alright. I made them in my quest for a good rib recipe that can be made in the crock pot. Maybe that is my mistake because I feel that they were too tender. They were falling off the bone and then I had a crock pot full of bones and watery greasy sauce. Did not "look" appetizing in the pot.

Garden Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
This is a no fail potluck recipe. You seriously can't really mess this up as long as the pasta is cooked right and you can add virtually any vegetables you have on hand.

Basic Cheese Polenta

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
I make this every Sunday. I bake it and let it cool. Then I cut into small rectangle cubes and package 4 to a little disposable lidded bowl. Nuke on high for 2-3 minutes with 1/2 cup spag sauce or alone. Heavenly lunch!

Slow Cooker Venison Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
I am not a venison fan but this didn't taste bad at all. I do think the time in the slow cooker was too long. Or maybe it was the seasonings but mine was a bit too savory for my tastes. Next time I won't cook it quite as long and will use plain tomato sauce instead of ketchup. I am not a fan of cumin myself so maybe I might omit it next time as well. Definitely didn't taste like venison, though.

Jagerschnitzel

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
My family loves this recipe. Tastes authentic. I am a working mom with a long commute so to cut time I do the gravy differently. I buy a large can of roasted beef gravy (the best is from GFS) and add worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke (just a couple of drops), minced garlic, and tons of sauteed onions and mushrooms. I don't add sour cream usually because I don't remember having a light colored gravy in Germany and I like the robust flavor. To Die For!

Slow-Cooked Tamale Casserole

I cooked this yesterday and it looked like dogfood.....but it tasted like heaven. Great recipe! Served it over corn chips (Fritos) and topped with sour cream and my fresh homemade salsa. Yummy! The teenagers ate it up!
