About this Cook
I am a mother of five small children and am almost full time student. I love to cook but I am hard pressed for time, so I like simplifying classics and creating new meals that are fast and nutritious.
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to bake, baking is my favorite me thing to do. I love the look on peoples faces when they bite into a freshly made pie or spot a tray of just out of the oven cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Gathering the kids (7, 6, 4, 3, and 2) into the kitchen and reading the ingredients while they collect the items, and pile them all on the table before we begin to work. Then watching them learn new things, like how to read a measurement or how to level flour in a measureing cup. Learning how to crack eggs was definately an experience I won't soon forget!
My cooking triumphs
I manage to feed a family a well balanced, delicious and nutrious meal every night (except pizza night)
My cooking tragedies
Apple pork chops (shudder) I don't know what I did wrong but ugh... onion soup mix and apples on pork didn't mix for me...

Jackie's Killer Krab Dip
As written this is very cream cheesy and though not bad, it isn't very good either. As some others stated, I added some green onion and increased the hot sauce. That helped, but I also added around a 1/4 cup finely chopped smokey cheddar and added the black olives to the dip but topped the crackers with green olives and they are AMAZING!

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough
I made the recipe EXACTLY as stated and it is awesome! The recipe states to POUR the batter, it is supposed to be thin so you can spread it around the baking pan. This is not your typical pizza crust, but it's awesome!

Aggression ( Oatmeal ) Cookies
This cookie works amazingly well with lots of small children! I have 5 kids aged 8, 7, 5, 4 and 3, and I was concerned about the younger two, but these cookies can't be spoiled! You can throw in any additives you want and they still come out good. We made 6 batches and each kid picked a different thing to put in theirs. We had chocolate chips for one, toffee walnut for another, peanut butter for another, coconut chocolate chip and butterscotch chip. They were all awesome! We also did one batch of choclate caramel chip, not so good, the caramel and oatmeal don't go well together. Also, unless you REALLY like sugar, don't do the coating. We did one batch and realized how sweet they were and made the rest without dipping them into the sugar, much better. Thanks for the recipe!
