Pepperoni Penne

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2014
This is a quick and simple meal that the whole family will enjoy, although I will suggest a change for the kiddos, use a crushed tomato or a tomato sauce as opposed to diced tomatoes. It really didn't take long to make and I had all of the ingredients on hand. We did have to salt a bit for flavor, but next time I will amp up some of the other seasonings. Anyways, I will make again.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2014
I have made this recipe several times so I wanted to pass on my mistakes. First, if you are like me and only have 9x5 bread pans this will make three loaves. Next, if you like the denser bread don't use a mixer, smash the bananas and hand mix. If you like a fluffier bread mix everything. Finally, one day I ran out of sour cream after 2 cups and used plain Greek yogurt for the other 2 cups and this still turned out awesome! Hope this helps!!

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2014
I made this as the main dish for a party figuring it would be good to keep in the crockpot as well as filling, plus I could prepare in advance and then have no worries during the party. I tripled the recipe. This really is an excellent recipe but I did think it was a bit bland. After tasting it, I looked at reviews and followed another reviewers suggestion and added ranch seasoning packet to the soup. That made all the difference in the world. However, you MUST be careful. The dairy ingredients in this will scorch / brown rapidly. If you keep it in a crockpot only keep it on warm, and don't even try to keep it on low on the stove. Just a hint. I will definitely make this again but not to sit out and keep warm. It was still really good a little browned but at its best first made.

Hungarian Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2014
I love this soup. I searched for something to make with mushrooms one night as I had several packages that needed to be used. I started cooking only to find I didn't have all the ingredients lol. I do that a lot. Anyways, I didn't have dill weed or lemon juice and only had smoked paprika. I used the smoked paprika, some of my dill pickles juice (creative, right??), and I had lime juice. I thought it was excellent as did my guests! The second time I made sure I had all of the ingredients and still thought it was excellent. Love this soup and will be making it again and again.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2014
I have made this recipe probably 100 times now, the kids always ask for it. I do make it much more simply now for time and because it still tastes great even when cutting some things. I usually throw frozen ground beef in the crock-pot in the morning since I never remember to defrost meat and then throw a bunch of garlic (powder or fresh whatever I have) on it with onion powder. My husband doesn't like chunks of onion so I use onion powder. I let it cook then drain it off. I then toss in more garlic (I LOVE garlic), enough ketchup for it to be saucy, a couple of spoonfuls of sugar, and a squirt of mustard. Dinner is served. I have made this in massive quantities during moving and just left it in the crock-pot and all the guys just helped themselves during the day. Also when having people over I will leave this in a crock-pot so the kids can just get more whenever they are hungry. Great dish, I used to hate sloppy joes before this recipe.

Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2014
I really liked this recipe and it was really easy to make, however I also thought it was a bit bland. I tossed in some taco seasoning based on another review and that fixed it right up. I think though, that some dishes would be better with a more subtle rice in which case I would say leave it as is. Anyways, everyone ate it right up and I will be making it again!

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2014
My kids say this is the best bread they have ever had, and the 3 loaves rarely last longer than 4 days in my house (I have alot of kids though). The first time I made it I had never made bread in my life, and I wanted to use flax meal also. I subbed 1/2 cup of the whole wheat for flax meal. I don't think I had enough moisture because my loaves didn't rise well. Regardless the bread was delicious and got eaten, was just very dense. The second time I started with 3.5 cups of water and everything turned out perfectly. I am going to try adding more whole wheat flour and less bread flour over my next several times of making this bread, however want to get bread making down as I have now only made it 2 time in my life!
