About this Cook
Grew up following my grandparents in their Oklahoma kitchen and garden.
My favorite things to cook
Any thing fresh off the vine, bush or dug from my own garden. I plan my meals around what is coming out of the garden and can or freeze lots of veggies for the winter. I specialize in tomato products. Soup, sauce, salsa, etc. Wish I had a larger garden!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We had large family gathering every holiday. My most prized recipe is my grandmother's stuffing written in her own hand. Grandmother also canned all summer in her tiny hot kitchen. Then she would enter her products in the county fair... She always won!
My cooking triumphs
I make the BEST Thanksgiving Turkey.
My cooking tragedies
Pesto. Long ago I used dry herbs instead of fresh. Don't do this! This is the only true tragedy I have had. Getting everything done at the same time is a challenge, but I have learned to do this most of the time anyway.

Candied Almonds
I think this works better if you bring the sugar mixture to the soft ball stage BEFORE adding the nuts. It is difficult to keep the mixture from burning if the nuts are added too soon. I tried doing this both ways. On my stove using my candy thermometer it took about 8 minutes on medium high heat.
