Mom's Stovetop Pork Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2008
These are incredible. I had to boil them for 1 hour and there was some water left, but not much. Tonight I am going to slow roast them at 350 degrees for 2 hours uncovered. They went so fast, 2 of us only had one last time so I'm making tons extra. YUM

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2008
I have simply died and gone to heaven. I like them cold...keep 'em refrigerated and watch 'em disappear! Mine didn't have time to get stale..lol. I made one batch w/ chocolate chips topped with pecans; the other just plain pb chips, no topping. Both went FAST. Use Reynolds wrap no stick easy release foil. OMG what a wonderful product! The hardest part was boiling the sugar. I started the 3 minutes at hard boil (big bubbles) and it turned out perfect. Also, don't bake them longer than 3 minutes (TY other poster!) or they just might burn :( This is a KEEPER!

Famous Pork Chops

I wasn't impressed. You must broil at the end or you will just have soggy coated white meat. ick :(

Fried Cabbage II

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2005
This was excellent. It was even better the second day. The only thing I would change is cute the bacon fat in 1/2. It steams so well to cook. It was just a bit too greasy for me. Yummy and great on ATKINS!

Mom's Great Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2005
This was very good. I would recommend less salt (minus the bouillon) and used frozen or fresh green beans. Hubby loved it.

Chinese-Style Cheeseburgers

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2005
We just started the AKTINS diet and wow!! What a tasty surprise these turned out to be! I didn't serve them with buns and they were simply delicious on their own. The water chestnuts add a nice "crunch." This one's a keeper!

Red Curried Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2005
This was an amazing dish. We simply loved it. I did add some more 'heat' with cayenne but everything was simply superb. I love the McCormick spices and was so thrilled to find them in my local market. I DO NOT WORK for McCormick!!!! :) Simply put this recipe is a 5*keeper. Don't judge me~ Judge the recipe!

Epicurean Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2005
I tried. I really did. I'll stick to my old stand-by of Mayo, Dijon, onion powder, salt and pepper with a slice of olive.

Better Than Best Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2005
I did two things wrong. I did not spice it enough (too vague in the recipe) and I made the coating too thick on the meat. I suggest you read other recipes to get the right "spice" ratio and the thinner the layer of batter the yummier. Live and learn!

Spicy Maryland Crab Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2004
I made this in the crockpot. On the way out the door to work put two cans of stew tomatoes and the beef broth in the crockpot with diced celery and diced onion and spices. Came home and dumped one can drained: corn, lima beans, string beans, carrots and peeled white potatoes which I diced. Cooked that for another 2 hours in the crock on high. Last hour dumped in Phyllips back fin one pound of crabmeat. Most expensive soup I've ever made by the best. Hubby won't shut up about it. This is the real deal and tastes EXACTLY as it does in your finer restaurants on the east coast. Thank you thank you thank you!

Dad's Down Home Cornbread and Jalapeno Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2004
Hi all- I'm back after making this again and reading some of the "breaking" comments. I have an easy solution. For the cornbread (1/2 cup), buy a box of cornbread muffin mix and use 1/2 cup dry mix instead of 1/2 crumbled baked muffins. WORKS GREAT. I did that the first time and have done it since, using a box of corn muffin mix for this recipe only and storing the remainder in the fridge until next time. Try that folks, trust me it works!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2004
I thought the peanutbutter layer was way too hard and way too sweet. Next time I will use only TWO cups of powdered sugar and make TWO boxes of pudding. The peanutbutter layer was too thick and too hard to cut through and the chocolate was too thin. I did top it off with drizzled Hershey Chocolate. It was good; don't get me wrong just not WOW. For those calories I want WOW. LOL! Thank you Anna for a very good workable recipe.

Spicy Beef Curry Stew for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2004
Wow. So delicious! The only change I made was to add some canned coconut milk at the end as we like creamy and curry flavor together. It was so great over rice. This one is a keeper and the house smells fantastic! Thanks Nanci!!

Egg Salad I

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2004
This was very very delicious but I thought it was too little mayonaise when I first read the recipe and then when I made it I was right! LOL I added about 4-5 tablespoons; we like our egg salad on the moist side. this just got rave reviews at lunch. thank you Margaret.
