About this Cook
I'm a 40-year old married woman with no children but 9 kitty cats! My husband and I have our own business and we work from our home. I have been cooking since I could stand upright it seems and I've been a Vegetarian, Vegan, Weight Watchers and Adkins nut at one time or another in my life. I loved spicy foods and international cuisine the best. I am from Pennsylvania Dutch country and although I do enjoy the local favorites, I would take a good spicy curry over them any day!

Seafood. Pasta. Curries and salads. I love to chop chop chop
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother's Thanksgiving meal from start to finish. And anything she makes. She puts me to shame when it comes to cooking!
My cooking triumphs
I've been very blessed with this artform. I tackle it with vigor and enjoy experimenting. One of my favorite things is to try to re-create a dish from a restaurant that I have enjoyed.
My cooking tragedies
The funniest has to be the one Christmas I tried to bake the Christmas ham. My dear mother was recovering from lung surgery and I decided to do the ham. Well I purchased FRESH PORK and brown sugar and pineapple and proceded to bake the poor pork to death, basting all the time. Truth is, everyone had a good laugh and my dear father tied it to a tree for all the wild critters in the backyard to enjoy. True story. I swear. I can't make this stuff up!

Mom's Stovetop Pork Ribs
These are incredible. I had to boil them for 1 hour and there was some water left, but not much. Tonight I am going to slow roast them at 350 degrees for 2 hours uncovered. They went so fast, 2 of us only had one last time so I'm making tons extra. YUM

Saltine Toffee Cookies
I have simply died and gone to heaven. I like them cold...keep 'em refrigerated and watch 'em disappear! Mine didn't have time to get I made one batch w/ chocolate chips topped with pecans; the other just plain pb chips, no topping. Both went FAST. Use Reynolds wrap no stick easy release foil. OMG what a wonderful product! The hardest part was boiling the sugar. I started the 3 minutes at hard boil (big bubbles) and it turned out perfect. Also, don't bake them longer than 3 minutes (TY other poster!) or they just might burn :( This is a KEEPER!

Famous Pork Chops
I wasn't impressed. You must broil at the end or you will just have soggy coated white meat. ick :(
