Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2014
This is the flakiest crust I've ever tasted! Easy to make and a cinch to work with. I miss the buttery flavor though so I plan to use butter flavored shortening next time - or I may add butter in place of some of the shortening.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
Delicious recipe as written. The dough was easy to work with. I followed other suggestions and rolled the dough with powdered sugar and it added a sweetness to the outside of the cookie that was nice. But I found that adding an extra cup of sugar as some reviewers suggested, the cookies were too sweet. If you want a sweeter cookie, I wouldn't add more than an extra half cup of sugar, especially if you plan to frost them. Coupled with the sugar cookie icing on this site, these cookies didn't last long!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2013
This was a simple, perfect, and delicious pot pie! Tasted much harder to make than it actually was. I used a rotisserie chicken and that made it even easier. I also mixed the chicken and veggies into the sauce before placing in the shell and it wasn't dry at all. I also slightly pre-baked the bottom shell and I'm glad I did. The shell didn't seem to crisp up any more during the 30 min of baking time.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2011
This is a very forgiving recipe. I used 5 bananas and had only one loaf pan so I used a bundt pan instead. I glazed it with a cream cheese icing and it came out delicious!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Wonderful recipe! Even my kids loved it and they are hard to please. It was quick and easy too. The sauce was excellent and I can't wait to use it for other chicken dishes. Thanks for posting this recipe!

Sugar Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2007
These are an awesome sweet snack for company. If I hadn't made them myself, I would have thought they were store-bought!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2007
This was a perfect classic cheesecake! The secret to no cracks is to run a knife around the edge of the pan to loosen the cake from the side of the pan. Cheesecakes crack when it cools and shrinks but sticks to the side of the pan. Mine didn't crack and I didn't use a water bath, used cold ingredients, and even opened the oven door several times to make sure the cake wasn't sticking to the pan as it cooled. I served it with a blueberry/strawberry sauce and fruit on top and got lots of complements. I'll definitely make again!!

Fruited Curry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2007
I'd been looking for a good chicken salad recipe for a long time and this was awesome! I didn't have apples or celery and I used dried cranberries instead of raisins, but it was still delicious! The curry in this made it really original.

Beer Margaritas

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2007
Wow! I think this makes a perfect Margarita. You'd never guess there was beer in it. Beer just adds the perfect amount of "fizz" to this drink. If you serve with lots of ice, its not too strong. I can't wait til summer! No more store-bought buckets for me.

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2007
I am addicted to these! Each batch I make gets better. And they are very close to Cinnabon. Plus, they are sooo easy with a bread making machine. One thing: I didn't like the cream cheese taste of the frosting so I reduced the amount of cream cheese by half and added 1-2 tsp. of lemon juice plus a little more powdered sugar. Both the frosting recipe and the dough are very forgiving - no need for perfection. My family and I highly recommend these.

Crab Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2004
A terrific basic dip! My favorite presentation is to serve this dip cold in a round mound on a plate with a "moat" of cocktail sauce surrounding the dip. This presentation avoids the "bland" complaints many of the reviewers have noticed. I serve it with Ritz crackers. Thanks for the recipe...
