Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup with Bacon and Hash Browns

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2015
Since I have either split pea or lentil soup in 90% of my at home lunches, I think I know a good one when I see it. This was delicious. One change I made simply due to expedience: I too overly cooked a small potato in the microwave, then mashed. I don't have hash browns on hand.

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2014
I give it one star, even though your site says that means I couldn't eat it. I'm a depression era baby so I eat what's on the table. But as written, it was as bland as a dish could be. And fitting a 3.5 pound chopped cabbage into a 9"x 13" dish along with the other ingredients would be worth seeing. Think I'll watch the video.

I ALWAYS have a pot of lentil or split pea soup in the fridge, and I believe this simple recipe is about my 3rd favorite one.

Ham and Split Pea Soup Recipe - A Great Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2011
Try this with the addition of Masoor Dal (red, split lentils). The lentils tend to disintegrate and give the soup a thickness that's quite appealing.

Wow. Unless you modify this recipe, be prepared to drink a gallon of water. It is saltier than a can of sardines!

Jalapeno Steak

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
First of all, I don't know why I marinated good steaks. But the tablespoon of salt should have caught my eye. That is a lot of salt. Too much. Quite disappointed.

Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2010
I was quite surprised by this recipe. I've found that usually 4.5 stars is outstanding. This was good, but if I served it to guests I wouldn't expect any 'Would you share this recipe'?

Turkey Soup with Root Vegetables

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
I love soups & stews in the winter months and this is so good. The rutabaga and parsnip give this just the right hint of sweetness. My teenaged grand daughter, having eaten neither, really liked it as I think this would be excellent using just bullion cubes.

Southern Okra

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
I liked this very much, though I did replace part of the bell pepper with some pablano and anaheim peppers as well as a small yellow tabasco pepper. Gave it a nice bite! The small amount of flour gave the liquid just the right texture.
