Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2014
Took others advice and subbed cilantro for the oregano. Doubled the marinade (not as much sugar though). Perfect spring dinner! Loved this!

SUPER crispy (almost too crispy) LOL! Just needs WAY more spices to make it perfect. My whole family loved this!

Yeast Waffles

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2014
The first batch I made, I followed the directions and ingredients to a "T", but they were VERY bland, so I added more sugar and vanilla and that helped a little. I didn't particularly like the sour taste the yeast gave, either. This may be an "ok" base waffle mix but just add cinnamon or chocolate chips to pizzaz the flavor a bit. Even with syrup, they still weren't that great. As is 2 stars (plus a half star because it did have a nice crunch), with added sugar and vanilla, I'd give it a 3.

Nana's Southern Coleslaw

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2014
Really good recipe but I thought it was missing something because it tasted a little too "mayo-ish" and I figured out what it's missing: CELERY SALT! Add that to this recipe, and it will be 5 stars. I aded a little dill, a tad more lemon juice and buttermilk as well. I cut down on the sugar also. Really good! Thank you for sharing :)

Blueberry Breakfast Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2012
WAY too much sugar! This could have been a 5 star blueberry topping, but the amount of sugar called for (1/2 cup) is just entirely too sweet. I had to keep adding water, cornstarch, OJ...anything to make it not taste like candy! ICK! Finally, I adjusted it by adding more water and cornstarch and a pinch of salt and it tasted much better. In my opinion, sugar should not be the main star of such a wonderful fruit, the blueberries should! By not being so sweet, makes it a classier topping.

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
Oh wow! This is quite delicious, thick and hearty! I subbed turkey sausage for the Italian to make it healthier and I also added fennel seeds (a must in my opinion). SO delicious with a crusty bread. I also added chicken bouillon with milk since I didn't have enough broth. Next time I will try it with part skim, part half and half to cut calories and maybe add a little bit of potato flakes to thicken. SO GOOD! Perfect for winter!

Pizza Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2012
This was really good as a base recipe. To make it a little healthier, I swapped ground beef for turkey sausage links that I crumbled up and added fennel seeds and Italian seasoning to that. I also swapped turkey pepperoni for reg pepperoni and added fresh basil to the sauce. I kept everything else the same. Delish!

Orange Glazed Carrots

Added a little drizzle of honey to the sauce. Delicious, especially when the carrots soak up the flavor of the sauce after a while! YUM!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2012
Excellent sauce! Doubled recipe and mixed brown and white sugar (but not as much as called for). We love a garlicky teriyaki, so I added 4 cloves of garlic to the doubled recipe. Pierced thighs with fork before brushing sauce on there. Also due to time constraints, I seared the thighs on both sides before putting in oven to cook faster. Sesame seeds were added to sauce and put on top of rice with thighs. Super good!

Made EXACTLY as written and it tasted too "eggy". Will probably look for a new recipe.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Halved the recipe. Made this using NO butter( replaced butter with apple sauce and 1 tblspn oil) and it was STILL so moist and absolutely decadent! My entire family of 5 loved it!

Uncle Bill's Sweet and Sour Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
Been searching for a sweet and sour recipe for a while, and this one is perfect! I did not add the MSG or the red food coloring. I did add sesame oil, only like a few drops since it is super strong.

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2011
Soooo yummy! This dessert does not last long when i make it. I alwyas put it in a trifle dish for easy assemble and beautiful presentation. I make just as directed, however i add a little more cream cheese to cut back on the sweetness and it almost tastes like a cheesecake factory banana cheesecake. I always make my own whipping cream to make it more rich and less artificial tasting. I would not use banana flavored pudding in this like some reviewers did...that would make it taste too artificial tasting.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
Oh. My. Goodness. AMAZING. I added about 3/4 cup blueberries to the dough. Instead of 1 cup sour cream, I did 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt and 1/2 cup sour cream with 2 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice and about 1/2 tsp lemon zest. I also used butter with salt, so I didn't use all the amount called for. I made a lemon glaze to go on top. These scones were simply delicious. A true 5 star recipe!!!!!

Broccoli with Rigatoni

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
5 stars with slight modifications: Chicken broth instead of veggie, dash of red pepper flakes and lastly, stirred in about 3/4 cup ricotta cheese at the end. I also added about 1/2 cup fresh parm cheese instead of the 2 tablespoons. Made a nice creamy-like sauce with these additions. Final note- make sure to sautee garlic for a good 5-7 minutes for a nice garlicky taste!

Ghirardelli® Individual Chocolate Lava Cakes

Try adding coffee liqueur to the "lava" creamy center of this cake like Kahlua. Or other possibilities are Bailey's Irish creme or even a touch raspberry extract. YUM!

Apple Crisp III

Excellent! I even used low fat butter to save some calories and it was still delicious! I added a little vanilla to the batter and a pinch of salt and nutmeg. I also used a little less sugar than called for. Soooo good served warm with whipped topping!

Quick and Easy Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
Really great recipe! didn't add lemon juice (thought I had some but didn't) so I subbed 2 tablespoons pineapple juice. It tasted great before I added the pineapple juice though! I tripled the sauce and also tweaked it a bit by adding a 1/2 tspn sesame oil (a little goes a LONG way!) broccoli, a squirt of prepared mustard and a pinch of red pepper flakes. VERY good! Will make often!
