My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmothers and mom were/are amazing cooks. I strive to be as adventurous as them and the greatest compliment I can receive is to hear something tastes just like "Nanny" or "Grandma" used to make it.
My cooking triumphs
My husband now willingly trys anything I make - that says a lot coming from a man who previously only believed in three food groups: steak, beef jerky and beer.
My cooking tragedies
As a teenager, I attempted to make a scratch chocolate cake for my Dad just like his mom did. However, I thought each section of the Baker's chocolate was considered "one whole square" and only used half of the recommended chocolate in the recipe. Thank God my Dad is so supportive of my cooking as he raved about how moist and tall the pale brown cake turned out and did not comment on the taste until I took a bite - no flavour, you could only taste the flour! He ate an entire piece and still talks about what a beautiful cake it was minus the chocolate!

Chicken Breasts Pierre
Thank you for sharing this fantastic recipe, it is a family favorite now! I make it almost exactly as you, but occasionally I add a couple more garlic cloves and leave out pre-flouring the chicken before browning. Since my husband does not enjoy chunks of tomatoes, I throw all of the sauce ingredients into a blender and pulse for a few seconds then add to the pan and bring to a boil. We sometimes add freshly grated Parmesan to the chicken on our plates! Add a side of rice and you have incredible comfort food! (I've accidentally left this simmering for over an hour and the chicken melted in our mouths!)

Cinnamon Palmiers
Exactly the recipe I was looking for. These are my favorite cookie, but I never could get the taste as the ones from the local bakery. My batch of cookies did not puff up like your picture (I struggle with puff pastry for some reason), but they tasted wonderful. My husband's co-worker bought me more pastry and sent it home with my hubby for another batch. Thanks!
