About this Cook
A transplant to Texas from the eastern shore. I MISS SEAFOOD!!! I work very long days and go to school so mainly I need something that I can either throw together when I get home, or it's already been cooking all day.
My favorite things to cook
I LOOOOOOVE seafood in any form but battered and fried...what's the point in that? I have a horrible sweet tooth but diabetes runs in my family and so I have to give away most treats I make. Also I detest artificial sweetners so I will not use them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Creamed chipped beef and toast after a night of drinking. Oyster stuffing for holidays. My mom makes the most incredible hot crab dip for Christmas, but she won't share the recipe.
My cooking tragedies
When we first moved to Texas my husband and I were first exposed to brisket, so I tried to make one at home in the oven, but I didn't know the difference between a corned beef brisket and a regular brisket (but I definately do now), I had to toss the whole thing in the trash!

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine
Didn't taste bad, just too dense for what I consider good italian bread and I let it rise and extra 20 min.

Sticky Sesame Chicken
The sauce was good before I cooked it. The only thing is I tried to convert this into a crockpot recipe because I get home late and lost a lot of the flavor in the long cooking time. Will definately try again in the oven.

Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef
Turned out really well. I did cut the sugar in half and added some red peppler flakes as some others suggested and that was just right for me. Had to keep stirring the meat and sauce because the sauce was thickening on the bottom but was still grainy on the top. I added green peppers with the onion for the last hour of cooking time. I would like to try with broccoli too.
