Spinach and Pasta Shells

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2006
This was all right only after adding large quantities of Parmesan cheese. It was all right, but I probably won't make it often.

Gazpacho IV

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2006
I made this recipe with no alterations, even though I thought some of the spices sounded funny together, and it turned out wonderfully. It went well with French bread dipped in garlic olive oil.

Homemade Cereal

This stuff is great! I left out the wheat bran and it was still fine. I will make it often.

Grandma Cornish's Whole Wheat Potato Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2006
This was excellent. I made half the amount and used a cup of oatmeal and two cups of white flour in place of three cups of the whole wheat. It was wonderful and soft. I will make it often.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2006
I used a half recipe with a quart of home-canned apples. I cut down the sugar a bit. It was very good and I've added this recipe to my collection.

Colorful Turkey Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2006
Needs more dressing for my taste, especially more vinegar. But with adjustments, it was a very good way to use up leftover turkey.

Pad Thai

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
I added the cilantro at the end. I thought it tasted good with lots of lime juice! Do add cilantro--it balances the flavors and tastes wonderful.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
This was excellent! I substituted mozzarella for the provolone. I also assembled it ahead of time and refrigerated it, then baked it for 5-10 minutes longer the next day. Don't let the pasta sit too long before you assemble it, like I did, or it will stick together!

Creamed Spinach a la Lawry's

Reviewed: May 8, 2006
This is the best spinach I've ever tasted. Everyone loves it. I like to add extra garlic. Warming up the milk before you add it will help it to combine with the flour more easily.

Easy Hummus

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2006
The texture wasn't ideal. I had to add a lot of extra liquid. Next time I might add some cilantro. I liked the Mexican spicing. I used 2/3 cup dry beans, cooked, instead of the canned beans, and it turned out just fine.

Fabulous Zucchini Grinders

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2006
I added some lentils to the tomato mixture to make this a more hearty meal. They turned out wonderfully, and I will make this again.

These turned out very good. Great with hummus. I had to cook them a little longer but they were great.

Irish Boiled Dinner (Corned Beef)

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2006
This was easy and tasty. The vegetables could have used a bit more flavor, but still tasted nice and weren't overpowering. I will probably make this again--for St. Patrick's Day next year.

Lazy Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2006
This was pretty good. It tasted just fine and was very quick and easy to prepare. The texture is kind of funny, though--it's one solid mass instead of separate pieces of pasta. I'll probably end up making it again, though, because it's so easy. I found the amount of spices called for very nice and might up it a little next time.

Yum! Goes well with Greek Lemon Cake from this site. Added a bit extra cornstarch.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2006
Wow, these were fabulous! The darker the better. Next time I'll use half the salt--they tasted fine, but I think they'd still be great with less, too.

Greek Lemon Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2006
This was fabulous! Mine was in texture like a pound cake, probably because I used all-purpose flour. I used the zest of 3 lemons and would add another one or 2 next time. I also used half a cup of lemon juice. It tasted even better the next day. Combine the lemon zest with 1/2 cup sugar in the food processor and grind to bring out even more lemon flavor. Highly recommended!

Old Fashioned Apple Cream Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2006
This was all right. The filling tasted great but it filled up so much of the pie shell there was no room for fruit. It also didn't set up too well. But it tasted so good that I'll use it as a building block for another recipe. Thanks!

Beanie-Weenie

This was all right. A great way to use up the cans of pork and beans hanging around. I thought it was okay but my husband really liked it.
