About this Cook
I'm a self-employed wife and mother that loves to cook. My family loves to sit down to one of my homecooked meals. My favorite things to do besides cook is golf, reading, writing, sewing, and taking a ride on my Suzuki Hayabusa 1300GXR.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking mainly southern because of my roots, but baking is my specialty. My family loves my cookies, cakes and pies. I try to either change or add something new to recipe every chance I get.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I learned to cook at an early age watching all my mother and all my aunts cook. They always cooked or baked from scratch and I've carried on that tradition. My daughter is also turning into a very accomplished cook herself. She loves it so much that she's even thinking of becoming a Culinary Chef. How do you like them apples!?
My cooking triumphs
My new husband at the time had bought a lemon cake and raved and raved about it. Well, of course I couldn't let a store-bought cake get the better of me. I came up with my own recipe and while he was at work, I baked and decorated it just like the store-bought. When he ate it, again he went on about how good this store's cake was. He was shocked and pleased to learn it was my recipe he was enjoying!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried baking a cake, it came out hard and not very appetizing. I couldn't figure out what happend. After going over the recipe again, I realized I used baking SODA instead of baking POWDER! Suffice it to say that NEVER happened again.
