Ice Cream Base

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2014
I concur - this is a wonderful rich creamy ice cream. I added a vanilla bean to the half and half and cream mixture while it was cooking and let it steep about 30 additional minutes.

Almond and Soy Nut Power Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2013
These are excellent! I changed the flavors a bit since I am not a chocolate fan, instead using lemon flavored chips (like chocolate chips, but lemon:), dried raspberries, and pistachios rather than walnuts. The success of this recipe however goes to JDS800 for creating a bar that holds together, has great texture and just the right sweetness!

Summer Tomato Pie

Easy and tasty. I used a sharper cheese with a smoked mozzarella but I think it would work nicely with a variety of cheeses and spices.

Spicy Crispy Beef

Tasty recipe, however I do wish my beef had stayed a little crispy. I used less sugar (as others recommend and much less oil.

Naan

Reviewed: May 29, 2013
These were very tasty! I did add a teaspoon of baking powder and reduced the sugar to 1 heaping tablespoon. Cooked them on a dry cast iron skillet, used only about 3 1/2 cups flour and ghee instead of melted butter.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2013
Really liked this but I did decrease the sugar to around 2 1/3 cups. Would also be great with some citrus zest or more almond.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2013
This is a very moist and delicious bread. I did add a very ripe banana and cut the sugar down to about 1 1/3 cups. I have also made this replacing some of the oil (about 1/3 cup) with buttermilk and it was still very moist.

Cracked Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
These were good, but I would have liked them a little more chewy. I took the first batch out as they were just turning golden - to late, already crunchy. Consecutive batches came out much earlier and were chewier, but crisped up by the following day. Probably would have enjoyed a bit more flavor as well - lemon zest, more vanilla flavor or almond.

Best Breakfast Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
These are a tasty, simple to make treat. Very easy to adjust to whatever you have on hand. I have used 1/2 to 1 cup puree - using dried figs, apples, pears or prunes, dried cherries, apricots or blueberries. I cut down on the sugar a bit and freeze and bake as needed.

Brazilian Lemonade

This is refreshing and delicious. Only things I did different were to strain before adding milk, then strain again back into blender with milk for another whirl, also used less sugar.

Belle and Chron's Spinach and Mushroom Quiche

Very tasty and versatile. Used cheddar/mozzarella combo, Italian sausage instead of bacon, spinach and mushrooms for an "italian" version. Also sautéed the onions, mushrooms and spinach before adding to the egg.

Corn Dogs

These were easy and delicious! My batter was very thick after a couple hours in the fridge so I did use a little extra milk. Followed others suggestions of drying the hot dogs and making sure the batter is very cold.

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
My first venture in doughnut making - and it won't be my last! These were simple and yummy. I did leave half the dough (unrolled) to sit overnight which created a yeasty doughnut, more complex flavor similar to sourdough. I enjoyed both batches but I think I will add a little nutmeg next time. Also I was running a bit low on shortening and used about 1/2 unsalted butter. Topped with various glazes including the one here, a lemon glaze, cinnamon and sugar, and chocolate raspberry. I filled several with raspberry jam. This recipe was more than worth the purchase of a doughnut cutter! Thx Kelly!
