Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts
My first venture in doughnut making - and it won't be my last! These were simple and yummy. I did leave half the dough (unrolled) to sit overnight which created a yeasty doughnut, more complex flavor similar to sourdough. I enjoyed both batches but I think I will add a little nutmeg next time. Also I was running a bit low on shortening and used about 1/2 unsalted butter. Topped with various glazes including the one here, a lemon glaze, cinnamon and sugar, and chocolate raspberry. I filled several with raspberry jam. This recipe was more than worth the purchase of a doughnut cutter! Thx Kelly!
