Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2012
OMG, this was awesome. Like others suggested, I just put everything (except for barley and salt) in the crockpot at once and cooked on low for 10 hours. Instead of the recommended veggies, I used one bag frozen peas, one bag frozen corn, one onion, one bag baby carrots chopped, one can stewed tomatoes. Also added Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder. The second time I made it, I left out the sugar and oil and missed neither one. I also threw in some cubed boiled potatoes the second time in place of barley because I was out of barley. Prefer the barley but potatoes were fine. Love, love, love this soup!

Chicken Puffs

Everybody (husband and three kids) loved it! How could they not? I cooked the chicken in the onions, but then separated them before mixing the chicken with the cream cheese and butter (since the kids would revolt about the onions), and serving the sauteed onions separately. I plan to make over and over!

Ghirardelli® Chocolate-Almond Berry Bark

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
I love fresh cranberry garlands on a Christmas tree. I bought several bags of cranberries this year, but ran out of time to string most of them. What to do with the extra? I found this recipe and tried it on New Years Day. Big hit with the family for the combination of sweet, sour, and crunchy. I made one portion cranberry only for my daughter who doesn't like nuts, one section almonds only for my son who doesn't like cranberries, and the rest just like the recipe said! It inspires me to make more bark variations.

I made it for the new-parent breakfast at my kids' school. It was the favorite item at the breakfast! I followed the recipe with no changes.

Easy Easy Casserole

I had some ground turkey to use up so I tried this recipe. The tomato soup topping make it too bland for our tastes, but I think the overall concept is good. It is DEFINITELY an easy recipe. Next time I will try using something more flavorful than tomato soup, like spaghetti sauce or taco sauce.

Terrific, hearty main dish! I added a little salt to really bring out the flavors.

Beef Pot Roast

This is one of the first recipes I found on allrecipes.com several years ago and I've been making it ever since. My recommendation: DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING. When people complain that it's tough, but they added water, it's their own fault! Don't add water or broth. Don't add potatoes or carrots. Don't even change the amounts on the salt and pepper. Just do exactly what the recipe says and you will be happy with the results! I always am...but when I don't follow it exacyly, I'm disappointed.

I made it with ground turkey and mozarella cheese. It was terrific and even better as leftovers. I was proud to serve a piece to a friend a couple days after making it. She loved it too.
