Joe Froggers

We didn't attempt to roll these as cookie cutter cookies--the dough rolled out, but was much too sticky to lift & allow the cut-out to hold shape. Instead I did them like Peanut Blossoms--made balls, rolled them in white sugar, and flattened on a pan with the bottom of a glass. Great! Yummy with frosting, too.

Apple and Spice Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
Wonderful--made them for my little twins with allergies, but couldn't keep them away from the big kids. Will need to double the recipe next time. I took the suggestion of shredding the apple instead of using chunks. I think it added a welcome bit of moisture to the dough.

Love it! My husband's favorite when he's not quite hungry enough for a big meal.

One of my favorites from childhood that I love making for the kids now. They love to add the kiss!

Chocolate Sauce

Perfect & very quick! I substituted milk for half of the water and added about 1T of butter and a generous pinch of salt. Even my vanilla-all-the-way son loved it & asked to lick the pan.

Banana Bread

This came out great and the kids loved it. I also increased the cooking time to 55 min. When first out of the oven, the crust was very hard, but after it was cooled, wrapped in foil, and sat for a few hours, it completely softened up.

Spritz Cookies II

Reviewed: May 17, 2005
This is the same recipe my grandmother used, except that she often substituted almond extract for the vanilla. I find the dough very easy to work with and the cookies are always a BIG hit!!

Carne Adovada

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2005
I prepared this dish using regular chili powder and served with rice. It was tender and tasty, but very salty. Maybe the recipe should read one TEASPOON of salt?? Otherwise an OK dish.
