Caesar Salad Supreme

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2008
The dressing is really great. I followed some other reviews and put all the ingredients in a mini chopper with a splash of red wine vinegar and milk to help combine. I did think there was just a tad too much garlic and I really like garlic. In fact I usually add extra garlic to most recipes. Next time I will reduce the garlic by one clove. I did make the croutons, which I thought were good, but I made the following modifications. I tossed them in the garlic oil until they soaked it up and started to get slightly crispy. Then I finished them in a 300 degree oven for 8 minutes after adding salt, pepper and parmesan cheese.

Yummy Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
So good and so easy! I did marinate 6 chops in the sauce for about 3 hours. 8 chops would definitely have fit in that much sauce. My husband raved and he doesn't usually like boneless pork chops because they tend to be on the dry side. These were tender and delicious. He had seconds! This would also be very good with chicken.

Chicken David

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2008
My husband and I agreed that this was a four but would be a five with the following additions. I followed the recipe exactly except for using half and half instead of heavy cream and using and 8oz container of fresh mushrooms. The next time I will either add fresh chunks or balls of mozzarella right before serving or top with a cheese with some bite like asiago. The other thing that I will be sure to have on hand the next time because we were really wanting and craving it this time, was a nice crusty bread for the delicious sauce. YUM!

Chicken and Chorizo Pasta Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
My husband loves chorizo so I am always trying new recipes to satisfy his craving. This was really good and we both enjoyed it. I didn't feed it to my toddler because I thought it might be too spicy, but it was very flavorful and not too spicy at all. The only thing that I changed was adding mushrooms and a little more cheese to the top. Looking forward to the leftovers :)

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
My husband is a HUGE BBQ fan and when he took his first bite he didn't even wait to swallow before he said, with his mouth full, "this is REALLY good". I had a family size pack of boneless ribs (4.9 lbs)so I used 3 cups of beef broth and cooked on high for about 6 hours. The meat was so tender that I could hardly get it out of the slow cooker because it kept falling apart. Used two full bottles of bbq sauce and probably could have used a little more for those who like it really saucy. This made a lot so I will freeze some for later. This is definitely going to be my go-to bbq pork recipe.

Southern-Style Meat Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2007
My husband and I both thought this was a great sauce. I did make an adjustment and will make a couple more the next time I make it. I used 1 1/2 Tbsp of red pepper flakes and though it was a flavorful hot, it was a little more than we would normally like, so next time I will use only 1 Tbsp. I also think that next time I will add a little bit of beef broth or some of the liquid from the canned mushrooms so that it is a little less thick. My husband liked the consistency, but I thought it was hard to mix with the noodles because it was so thick. As others have mentioned this would be an excellent lasagna sauce because of its thick and hearty nature.

Chicken Broccoli Ca - Unieng's Style

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
This was good with some modifications. I doubled the marinade since I had a little over a pound of chicken and read some of the other reviews that said that there wasn't enough sauce. I didn't have bok choy, but substituted mushrooms and savoy cabbage. After adding all the vegetables I added another tablespoon of oyster sauce and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. I also added a little more of the cornstarch mixture. With these changes we found the dish flavorful and not the least bit bland.

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
This pork was very good. I followed the recipe except for using only one cup of wine with one cup of chicken broth, adding mushrooms and adding a couple tablespoons of sour cream to the gravy. The pork was very moist and had a wonderful savory flavor.

Tomato Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
Absolutely delicious!! I followed the suggestions of some of the other reviewers and laid my zucchini and tomato slices on paper towels for a few minutes before layering. I used mozzarella cheese instead of cheddar, but followed the rest of the recipe exactly. My husband and I both had seconds and even my 2 year old liked it. I will definitely be making this again!

Hot Pizza Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2007
This is very easy and a definite crowd pleaser. It takes no time at all to throw together and you can even make it a day or two before. I added onion to mine and put the "toppings" on top of the sauce instead of on top of the 2nd cheese layer. I served with tortilla chips and it was gone before all the guests had even arrived. That is definitely evidence of a successful recipe.

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2007
This is SO easy! The flavor is great and you can switch it up a little just by using different types of salsa. I used brown rice instead of white and added a 1/2 cup extra chicken broth to account for the heartier rice. It came out perfect and my family loved it.

Unbelievably Awesome Barbeque Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2007
I really think the combination of the pizza sauce with the barbeque sauce makes this recipe. I have made bbq chicken pizza before and was overwhelmed by the bbq sauce flavor. This was the perfect taste and my family raved. We will definitely add this to the pizza night rotation.

Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2007
This sauce is a nice change of pace from even your everyday meat sauce. It is definitely thick and hearty. I followed the recipe with the exception of adding only 2 beef buillion cubes as suggested by some others. The pepperoni doesn't stand out so for those considering eliminating it for that reason, I would leave it in. I wouldn't use this sauce everytime, but it is certainly a great sauce when you are looking for a hearty meal or need a sauce for lasagna.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2007
This was super easy and delicious! I didn't have a taco seasoning packet so I used Bill Echols taco seasoning recipe as some others suggested. I added a fourth chicken breast but will not do so next time as it ended up too thick and hearty and more like chili. I used half beer and half chicken broth and couldn't taste the beer at all. I cooked it all on medium heat in my slow cooker for 4 hours, shredded the chicken and then cooked for another hour. My husband suggested that next time I top it with a little cilantro and squirt of lime in addition to the other toppings. We thoroughly enjoyed this and I will be making it again soon.

Pesto Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2007
I am usually a little overwhelmed by cream sauces, but this was delicious and not overly heavy. I used an 8oz. package of sliced crimini mushrooms and then just chopped them, a total of 5 roma tomatoes, 10 cloves of garlic and 1/3 cup of butter but 4 Tbsp of olive oil. I also used 1 1/2 pounds of shrimp which I think was more appropriate for the amount of sauce. I will definitely make this again. This recipe is so good you wouldn't even have to be afraid to serve it to company if you haven't made it before.

Holiday Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 12, 2007
Scrumptious! I was looking for a chicken salad recipe with grapes in it, because I love to include them in my chicken salad, and came across this recipe. I used 3/4 cups of craisins and 3/4 cups of sliced red grapes. I also used red pepper instead of green because I prefer it. Other than that I followed the recipe exactly and was completely impressed with the result. I served it to the ladies in my sons playgroup and they couldn't get enough. I swear some would have licked the bowl if it wouldn't have looked bad. I sent them all home with the recipe and it may become a weekly tradition for someone to make "THE chicken salad". Thanks!

Turkey Bolognese Sauce

Reviewed: May 12, 2007
I had high expectations for this recipe and it just wasn't what I expected. After four hours of simmering and the addition of extra garlic and extra jalapeno, it didn't taste like anything, though it smelled wonderful. I began making additions to help the recipe since I was having company for dinner and didn't want to serve it as it was. I added salt, pepper, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and worcestershire. That helped give it flavor but we all agreed it was still missing something. I am really shocked that the recipe doesn't call for any salt or other seasonings. I have made bolognese before and though it seemed like a recipe that should work, it just didn't.
