Maple Walnut Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2004
I didn't think it was all that great. I ended up putting in a good 2 Tbsp of maple flavouring and it still doesn't have a real discernible maple flavour to it. And I think because of all that extra liquid, it didn't set up properly and is a bit too soft to really be cut into nice squares. I won't be making it again.

Coconut Shrimp I

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2006
What a fantastic recipe! It's been a HUGE hit with my family, and all our guests who've tried it. I made the suggested dipping sauce and found that it compliments the shrimp perfectly!

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2006
Another great recipe! I did as suggested and added a bit of vanilla extract, and used frozen berries which I tossed with the dry ingredients before adding the wet. I also found it needed a splash more milk as the batter was far too dry as it was. I also decided to add a shake or two of dry oatmeal to the crumb topping to give it a bit more texture and they turned out fantastic.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2008
This is now the only recipe I use! After many a trial-and-error with other recipes, I have found the winner! So many doughs have an overly yeasty taste, or are tough, hard to roll out, or dry. This pizza crust is great thick, or rolled out thin. It stays nice and chewy and never has that yeasty taste that I think ruins the home-made doughs. I have used 1 tsp garlic powder, plus half a tsp each of dried basil and oregano, or kept is simple with a tsp of italian seasoning. It is also great with finely minced garlic added to the dough. I never have trouble getting it to stetch to fit virtually any size pan... it stretches easily with no annoying spring-back. I make the dough in my kitchenaid mixer before a final hand-kneading, and bake on convection setting. We are now using this recipe weekly. Outstanding!

Wow! These were great!! Just as promised- great fudgey chewiness on the inside with a slightly crispy exterior. I mixed by hand just to be on the safe side... Recommended!

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
This recipe has great flavor! I've made it a few times now, and the results have been great each time. I use 3-4 T of cornstarch in lieu of the flour, and skip the baking at the end. I also use a graham crust instead of pastry. Recommended!

Caramel Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2011
Love em! Made changes as recommended: cut butter down to 1/2c., and made them in a tin-foiled & sprayed 8x8 pan. They took a few minutes longer to cook than recommended during the second round in the oven... maybe about 15 mins or so, but just keep an eye on them. Amazingly tasty! My tummy is happy, thighs not so much!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2012
Awesome, awesome, awesome!! Decreased the sugar just a smidge, down to about a half cup, and used AP flour as that's all I had on hand. Otherwise, i followed the recipe to a T. Turned out amazingly well! Light and fluffy and tender. Don't hesitate to try this simple and delicious recipe!

Sweet and Sour Sauce I

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
With 2 minor changes, I thought this recipe was excellent! Even my son, who never eats the takeout sweet n sour sauce, enjoyed it. I took the soy sauce down to 1 Tbl. and increased the ketchup to about 3 Tbl., and I thought it was perfect! Certainly just as good as the usual takeout Chinese versions, and so simple to make. This recipe is a keeper!

Grandma's Baking Powder Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2013
Excellent just as written! I made these biscuits into cheesy garlic onion biscuits with the addition of some grated medium cheddar, about a tsp of garlic powder, and a few chopped green onions. I also left out the cream of tartar as I didnt have any on hand. Wonderful!
