Sesame Beef

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2014
I subbed brown sugar and doubled everything else but the sugar. We have lots of beef in the freezer (just got a cow)so I use round, sirloin, even chuck steak. Marinate over night. Serve over rice. I also stir fry any combo of veggies I have, onions (or green onions), carrots, snow peas, broccoli, cauliflower, green peas, green beans, bok choy etc. (whatever I have on hand!)and add to the dish. My kids LOVE it!!!

Simple Salisbury Steaks

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2014
As is I rated 4 * but with personal changes I would rate it 5 *. I doubled recipe adding salt and pepper, onion and garlic powder rather than fresh onions, kids do not like the crunch factor of fresh onions. I only added 1/4 c. of the mushroom soup to the meat mixture so the steaks would stay together. Sauteed the mushrooms then the steaks in oil. For the gravy I mixed the rest of the c of m soup with about a 1 1/2 c. beef stock, poured over the steaks and mushrooms simmered until tender and cooked through. Served with mashed potatoes and the gravy and green peas. Delicious!

Simple Hamburger Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
I left out the cream cheese totally as I was out I would have added 4 oz. I upped the ground beef by 1/2 lb. Left out gravy mix but added 2 tsp beef base to the browned ground beef. I didnt add the whole amount of milk just enough to get the consistency I wanted. Good stuff!

Espresso Sugar Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2013
Made this to a T even bought the espresso powder, yes it came out like a pudding type pie as that is basically what it is without eggs as a thickener. Mine set up beautifully and I made my own chocolate whipped cream it was divine. Thank you Oz!

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2013
I changed this just a bit but used all the same ingredients, first i floured 2.5lbs round steak in seasoned flour (s&p, montreal steak seasoning) browned it in a bit of oil added the chopped onion then a carton of beef stock, plus 3 cups water and 3 tbs beef bouillion powder.1 15 oz can tomato sauce. Brought that to boil reduced to simmer added a bag of frozen green beans, a bag of frozen sliced carrots and simmered for 20 min. (Our beef is locally grown and this one is very tender even the round steak). I added the potatoes about 20 minutes later and continued simmering til everything tender added a bag of frozen peas ten minutes before serving and heated through. Served with rolls. Thank you very much it was delish!!

Mushroom and Spinach Ravioli with Chive Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2013
Wonderful dough recipe, I have a pasta roller (hand crank) which made rolling the dough very easy. I adore mushrooms and the filling was so good! I halved the cayenne pepper for the kids and although I would have liked to make the sauce the kids wanted theirs with alfredo (also from allrecipes). I just finished dinner and am stuffed! Thank you larkspur for this wonderful recipe!
