I am a substitute elementary school teacher with five children at home, busy just isn't the word :)
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking for my family, my favorite thing to cook for them is homemade chicken noodle soup, from my grandmother's recipe and my great grandmother's cookie recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Freak out nights, a couple of nights a month we pick out a new recipe to try out. One rule, no one can freak out, they have to try it, but we always have leftoversc cereal and sandwiches if they don't like it
My cooking triumphs
Perfecting my grandma's chicken soup recipe. Any time I recreate or make one of my grandmothers' recipes I feel connected with them.
My cooking tragedies
Hmmm.....besides the smoke alarm going off?? I suppose it was the first time I made dinner when I was a kid, my mom didn't get home until 4:30 and my dad at 5.00 so I tried to cook pork chops for dinner. My dad (love him) ate his whole dinner, most of us couldn't chew the pork chops LOL

Suzy's Mashed Red Potatoes
Made recipe as is and it was great. Other times I add garlic, bacon, scallions and top with cheddar cheese. Amazing!

Oven Roasted Parmesan Potatoes
Followed the directions to a T (with bellepepper's note in first review). Used quite small potatoes so only cut in half. Everyone inhaled them! Great recipe. TY!

Sesame Beef
I subbed brown sugar and doubled everything else but the sugar. We have lots of beef in the freezer (just got a cow)so I use round, sirloin, even chuck steak. Marinate over night. Serve over rice. I also stir fry any combo of veggies I have, onions (or green onions), carrots, snow peas, broccoli, cauliflower, green peas, green beans, bok choy etc. (whatever I have on hand!)and add to the dish. My kids LOVE it!!!
