Pizza Crust for the Bread Machine II

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
I've tried many homemade pizza crust recipes, but have never been completely satisfied until I tried this one. I use a pizza stone and bake at 450. The crust comes out crunchy on the outside and tender and yeasty on the inside. And, I love being able to use the timer on the bread machine because the pizza is ready to make when I get home from work. I just made a spinach pizza with homemade alfredo sauce. It was better than any pizza I've ever had!

Fried Chicken Tenders

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2011
Best deep-fry batter I've ever tasted! It works great for anything: fish, shrimp, pork, chicken-fried steak, or chicken parmesan. The bread crumbs are what make this crunchy and delicious. I like to lightly freeze the battered pieces before frying. This keeps the batter from falling off the chicken when you fry it.

Garden Fresh Tomato Soup

Great tomato soup! A good roux is the key to making this soup very creamy and smooth. It's a great way to use up extra tomatoes from the garden.

Vickie's Beer Bread

Delicious bread. Crunchy on the outside, firm and tender on the inside. I make this for breakfast as a lowfat replacement for biscuits. It's great with butter and/or jam.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
Great recipe. At the suggestion of others, I replaced some of the ketchup with bar-b-q sauce and left out the brown sugar. For a more sour flavor which I prefer, I used additional mustard and some lemon juice to taste. This recipe will become a regular in our house.

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2004
Every bit as good as Olive Garden! Make sure you use this with raw pasta found in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. If you like more garlic, I use an entire bulb. Simmer peeled garlic in 1/4 cup butter for 20 minutes, mix in 1 Tbsp flour, add 1/4 cup milk, cook 2 more minutes, then strain into alfredo sauce.

Creamy White Layers

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2004
I like more dense cakes, so I loved this one. I made it for my daughter's 5th birthday party. I used a cream cheese frosting. The kids and adults all loved it.

Orange Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2004
Great recipe! If you like lemon cake, you'll love this! By your suggestions, I substituted orange cake (Duncan Hines) for the yellow cake. I also make a little extra of the glaze which is delicious. Even my finicky five-year-old daughter likes this cake. For parties, thin orange slices placed around the bottom of the cake makes a nice garnish.

Snow Ice Cream I

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2004
Great recipe! If you don't have evaporated milk, you can substitute Eagle Brand, heavy cream, or a mixture of the two for the evaporated milk. The snow waters down the taste, so the richer you can make this, the better!
