Quinoa and Black Beans

Really delicious. High flavor and nutrition in a very healthy dish. It is now in my rotation often. I like to serve it with sliced avocado and tomato. YUM!

Chicken Salad

Really outstanding. I made it with Craisins the first time since I had everything on hand but the grapes. It was a huge hit with three generations. I've made since with grapes a couple of times and I think I may make the dried cranberries the staple recipe for me.

Wow. Delicious! Remember when "awesome" was a good word? This is awesome! This recipe should follow the word, "refreshing" in the dictionary.

Bifana

Reviewed: May 21, 2010
Heavenly!! I've made this three times now. Make the chutney just in time to cool before serving. On the second day it's almost too pungent. Fresh, it has a marvelously complex flavor with lovely layers to it. Your guests will swoon. I nearly do as it cooks! I don't use cumin on the pork. It's a bit much with the chutney/sauce, I think. Update 2011 - I just rub the tenderloin with a little salt/pepper and dry mustard. A large dollop of leftover chutney is excellent in a bowl of oatmeal!

Carolyn's Orange Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2010
These were very tasty. I think I'd prefer them as a holiday bread option - ala panetone shortcut - than a breakfast roll. Next time I'll try this by skipping the frosting and maybe adding a bit of candied orange peel and/or golden raisins. Thanks!

Holiday Cranberry Chutney

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Don't wait for the holidays! While this "tastes like Christmas" in a sense it also puts me in mind of my grandmother's apple butter. The seasonings do that of course. With turkey, I don't want to cover the cranberry flavor as this does. It is excellent though served as suggested. It's also great just with toast. Given the health benefits of the cranberries, I think I'll keep this on hand throughout the year! Thanks.

Cranberry Orange Breakfast Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
This was very tasty bread and not difficult to make. If you have some around for some reason after a couple of days, you'll find it makes outrageously delicious toast. I'm sure bread pudding from this would be over the top as well.

Country Apple Dumplings

Sweeter than I like. And flavor was too simple for me - if that makes sense. Easy enough that little ones would enjoy making and eating.

Whipping Cream Pound Cake

Stellar. This is divine. It has a lovely texture as well as flavor. I followed the recipe as is. A large recipe, I will repeat this and freeze portions to have on hand for shortcake, unexpected guests, etc.

Blue Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
This is good but I don't recommend it for those who want the taste of cranberries for the traditional holiday meal. The blueberries overtake the flavor.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
This is a great standard cornbread recipe. I'm pretty sure it is the same as used to be on the Quaker box for many years which I have tried to find periodically. Recent recipes have had too much flour to cornmeal ratio.

Pumpkin Cheesecake in a Gingersnap Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
WOW. Just as is. The chosen cookie can make a difference in spice combination of course. I like Stauffer's brand gingersnaps. Served this with vanilla bean whipped cream (I keep 10x sugar on hand with snipped beans for fragrance and flavor). Oh my!!

This was very good and so simple to make. I served this with penne pasta and topped with dollops of goat cheese which made it "wow!" A big hit and my bachelor son asked for the recipe.:}Thanks.

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
This is a very good recipe for tasty macaroni salad. Choose your onion carefully. I had Spanish (yellow) onion on hand and thought one large would be a lot. I used a medium and was glad I sampled before chilling. The onion was over-powering and would have completely taken over the flavors. I ended up digging out a lot of onion - about half and it was very good but still had an onion aftertaste the next day. A large mild onion like Vidalia or Walla Walla would be good. Scallions may be nice with this recipe. I skipped the carrot but included the pimento. A really good dish.
