About this Cook
I am a Marine wife and we have 3 children. We are stationed in 29 Palms CA and anticipating an upcoming deployment in Feb. 06 for my husband. I am known as the "Cake Lady" for the Twentynine Palms Marines. Moms from all over the United States contact me to make cakes and treats for their Marine sons or daughters for their birthday or any other special occasion. I have made cakes, cookies, brownies, pies, cheesecakes (very popular). I then email a picture back to the moms with thier Marine son or daughter and the treat I made them. It is so fun to do and the moms love that fact they can still get something "homemade" to their Marine while serving in the military away from home!
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook everything! But baking is my fav.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Just making bid dinner at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving and inviting all my husbands Marine friends over to emjoy the holiday that did not make it home themselves for the season.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking my first Thanksgiving dinner for about 20 Marines in my home! It turned out great!
My cooking tragedies
I'm the "Cake Lady" for the Marines here in 29 Palms. Well here in the desert it gets HOT. I had made a cake a mom wanted me to deliver to her son for his birthday. I put two cakes on top one another with frosting inbetween etc...well it was sooo not by the time I got to his room I JUST noticed the top layer had slid right off the bottom..it was so hot out the frosting was litterally melting. BUT Marines will EAT anything from home so he still shared it with his friends and ate it and I brought back brownies to make up for his slipped up cake!

Dora's Christmas Cookies
This was a great recipe in my opinion! Dough was eash to roll, cut and they cooked GREAT! Although I only cooked them for 10 mins...they are even good eating them plain with no frosting or decorations. The kids and I have a great time frosting them as well as eating them...santa will be very please on Christmas Eve night!
