I like to cook?? Huh?

So I hop on my computer and right after I check my email I go to All Recipes and start perusing.  I find 2 or 3 recipes to add to my box and realize it's getting a little disorganized.  I spend a few minutes arranging them in their proper categories all while my mouth is watering.  I am thinking about how I need to run to the store to pick up a few things.

It dawns on me.

I like to cook now....?

This is crazy talk!!  I have grumbled about hating to cook since I was a young bride in 1980.  It wasn't that I was so horrible at it, I just didn't enjoy cooking!  I don't have a natural talent like my mom who could make shoe leather taste like filet mignon, but I could follow a recipe and people seemed to like it.  But still, I just hated the whole process....thinking, planning, shopping, cooking, cleaning.....then doing it all over again the next day or two!  Aaaaack!!  As a result of all this grumbling, we ate out....a LOT.  Like 5 times a week.

And then came along this horrible economy and the need to tighten up the budget.  I vow to cook much, much more and come to rely heavily on All Recipes.  It has been a God-send for me.

I really, really actually enjoy cooking now!  All Recipes makes it so easy!!

I am a proud supporting member just because I believe in supporting sites that make my life easier.  They've saved me the cost many times over in wasted foods or unused ingrediets.

Thank you All Recipes and to every single one of you who contribute the incredible recipes I enjooy every day now.  THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Cooking is fun, relaxing, creative, nurturing to others, pleasurable to others, social and many many more things. All Recipes is great in many ways I have tried many recipes that I probably would never even have heard of. I have also made some great "virtual" friends in the Recipe Exchange!

I always say if you can read a recipe you can be a good cook. True talent in the kitchen, I think, is when you can make stuff up, cook by instinct and it taste amazing. Not many people can do that. AR is fun- my husband says for me it is the best of both worlds social networking and cooking! He is right!- for once!! he he!!

About Me
I'm a mom of 2 teenagers and work full-time so I don't have a lot of time to cook, but I am actually starting to *enjoy* it more than I ever have before thanks to AllRecipes.com!
My favorite things to cook
We love spicy foods in our family! Mexican and Cajun foods, especially. My mom was a wonderful southern country cook (with German and Czech influences), we lived for 7 years in S. Louisiana, and my husband's family is from Mexico...so we come by it naturally!
My cooking triumphs
I guess I was pretty happy that Christmas Eve I put a $100 beef tenderloin in the oven and didn't ruin it!! It was delicious and I was *very* relieved!
My cooking tragedies
Way too many to list here! ;-)
