I love food. Cooking is a diversion for me. I find it as relaxing as a nice, long bath and a good book. I live with a dog and 3 cats, who sample my cooking and think I'm a goddess.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I have a wonderful grandmother to thank for that. I also love slow cooking, whether it be in the crock-pot, stove or a Dutch oven.
My favorite family cooking traditions
To me, family is what cooking is all about. I grew up in an era when America was moving away from the kitchen, but somehow still love to cook. The kitchen is as much a "living room", as any other part of the house.
My cooking triumphs
My pies! They're well-known and always requested. I would love to open a bakery.
My cooking tragedies
I never look at my less desirables as tragedies...they're learning experiences.

Pasta with Asparagus
I truly love this recipe! I'm on Weight Watchers, so I use less olive oil and roast or grill the asparagus first. This keeps really well for a couple of quick workday lunches in the fridge and it's only 7 points on WW. Thanks!

Easter Breakfast Casserole
This is outstanding and so easy. I love that you don't have to let it sit in the fridge overnight. I omitted the green peppers and added sauteed mushrooms, since that's what I had on hand. I also pre-baked the hashbrowns with a little butter. I used about 1 1/2 cups of milk and 10 eggs because it just looked like it needed that, maybe because I added lots of mushrooms and onions. I also used Velveeta for some of the cheese, since I didn't have enough shredded Cheddar. It turned out great! I took about half of the casserole and rolled it into flour tortillas and froze them for quick breakfasts later in the week. They heat up super quick (30 seconds) in the microwave and assure that none of this casserole will go to waste. Great recipe!

Old Man's Turkey Noodle Soup
This is an excellent soup! I did use 1/2 tsp (maybe more) of black pepper because we are big fans, and also added about 1/2 a cup of heavy cream (I do this with nearly all my soups). It was fantastic. The herb mix is just perfect. This works just as well with white meat too.
