Italian Style Meatloaf I

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
Great for a something different dinner. I used a packet of Italian dressing mix as I didn't have any plain Italian seasoning. It definately gave it zing and flavor, maybe too much for some folks. Next time I would only use half the package to tone it down just a bit. I tried the bread trick to reduce the fat runoff which was still overwhelming. I would suggest going with the leanest meat you can find, like a 95/5 blend as my 90/10 wasn't lean enough for my taste.

Simple Baked Apples

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2007
We tried this using the Yellow Delicious we had in the house and just loved it. Added some whipped topping and ate it right out of the stove..YUMMY! The Delicious apples added extra sweetness I'm sure and if I was to use those again, I'd most likely reduce the sugar accordingly. The walnuts tasted great, but we omitted the rasins because the child ate them all..LOL Thanks for sharng!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
I used the premade store bought crust, but everyone loved it! I used three different kinds of apples which a well respected local baker suggested for a great pie, which works wonders. Thanks to Grandma Ople!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
WOW... entire family loved these, everyone went back for seconds. We did the Cream of Celery and Cream of Chicken soup and it was great. I did have to cook the dumplings longer, as they seemed too doughy after just 30 mins. I like firm dumplings and the extra cooking seemed to do the trick. THANK YOU!

Peach Cobbler I

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2005
Tasted ok, but too watery and thin for my tastes. No one else here liked it and we ended up tossing most of it out. I even cut down on the butter as others suggested and it still needed CPR. Sorry!

Everyone raved over this! I used more peaches and should have doubled the topping batter (next time!!). I made a huge pan and it went FAST!!! My only suggestion is to make more..LOL and double the topping. Thanks for sharing!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2005
Cooking for an old time southerner (my Dad), I hoped I could find a biscuit close to the kind my Grandma used to make. So far these are as close as they come! The one thing I do differently is to brush on melted butter to the tops of the unbaked biscuits which adds flavor and makes for better browning on the tops. These were GREAT!!

Florentine Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2005
I had to make a substitution for the green peppers since I didn't have any, and instead used a small can of chopped green chilies which gave it some kick! Tasted great, will definately make again.

This was GREAT! I added extra Garlic powder and skipped the milk, adding water instead. I also tossed in a little non-dairy creamer to replace the milk. IT WAS GREAT! Thanks for sharing!

Easy Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2004
We loved this dish, fought over who got to have the leftovers for lunch the next day. I followed the recipe, but added a pound of mushrooms (I LOVE mushrooms) and added extra sour cream (just because I like that too). Dish was easy and quick to prepare even though I used stew-beef rather than ground beef. Also, I added some flour to the sauce to thicken it a bit and it was perfect. We have it on the menu for dinner again this week.
