About this Cook
I live in small town Wisconsin. It's just me and my husband at home right now. We both love cooking but would rather not stand on our heads all day to do it. I love to bring food to any family function, even if it's just a day on the lake.
My favorite things to cook
My husband is the better of us at the stove, but I love to bake. Cookies, cakes, candies. If I could make a living off commission baking, I'd be there! This year I made more Christmas candy then ever before and it was a blast! Some of it didn't turn out, but there's always someone to eat up the mistakes (usually, my husband).
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love my Mom's spaghetti. It was the first thing she taught me to cook. When I was in college it was my favorite comfort food. Now I've taught my husband how to make it just like Mom. He loves to make it for me after a particularly bad day at work. It seems to make everything better.

Cracked Sugar Cookies I
I needed a recipe to use the 12 egg yolks left over from Chocolate Angel Food Cake II. Sugar cookies are my favorite! These turned out great. They are soft and chewy. I was a little surprised as the consistency of the dough, but they baked very nicely. Just a few ingredients - all of which I had in the cupboard. I actually made a quadruple batch to use all the yolks and froze the extra in little portions. I can't wait to have another one with my lunch! Thanks for posting such a quick easy recipe!

Chocolate Angel Food Cake II
Wow. This cake got rave reviews at my husband's birthday party. Everyone was impressed that I was able to make this from scratch. The recipe was so easy to follow and just perfect. I dusted with powdered sugar to "pretty" it up. Grandma is still raving about it :)

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
The weather has been rainy and miserable lately so my husband and I decided to make some cookies. We needed a "normal" recipe - you know the ones where everything you need is already in the cupboard? This fit the bill! The cookies turned out delicious and great. Boy does the title get it right, "big fat chewy cookie"! I didn't use the unsalted butter (guess it was the one thing we didn't have) but they turned out just as good I think. This is going to be our go-to cookie recipe from now on! And, unlike other batters, it holds up without the chocolate chips! (Call me strange, I don't like chocolate in my chocolate chip cookies :)) Thanks so much for posting this!
