Born in Brooklyn New York the only child of second generation Italian parents, I always held family traditions and values close to my heart. As an author, I write about what I know, experiences and my passions. My book,Brooklyn Italian: A Memoir of Recipes of Days Gone By I tell the story about my father's ancestors in Williamsburg Brooklyn a place changed over time and the Italian immigrants that gave us so much, through their food and traditions, authentic Italian meals that have long been forgotten. My second book, In My Mother's Kitchen, honors mother's and daughters. It tells a story that begins with a small ceramic recipe box, remembering my mother through recipes and good times shared. Once again I take a different approach to the modern cookbook, a cookbook with a story, heartwarming and inspiring.
My favorite things to cook
Authentic Italian "peasant" dishes uninfluenced by American culture. Healthy, affordable, versatile and can feed a large or small family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Festa dei Sette Pesci - The Feast of the Seven Fishes traditional Chrismtas Eve dinner for Italians.
My cooking tragedies
LMAO.....baking! My mom was an excellent baker. I'm still learning the patience and techniques of the art of baking.
