Born in Delta PA - lived and worked in MD for many years, then retired and moved to FL for 4 yrs. Got "homesick", so moved back to Delta PA. Had part-time small catering business for a few years, but got MS and couldn't continue. Still cook for church functions and loved to entertain family and friends in my home.
My favorite things to cook
Love making desserts and appetizers. On cold days, baking bread and making a big pot of beef vegetable soup is my idea of a great day.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I took over having holiday dinners and cookouts when my Mother turned over the reins to me many years ago. Now that she's gone, it's very important to me to get all the remaining family members together for T-Giving, Christmas, 4th of July, etc., to make family memories around the table.
My cooking triumphs
Love creating great tablescapes and preparing LOTS of food (start with at least 2 or 3 appetizers, then serve the meal with at least one meat, one potato dish and at least 2 vegetable dishes, followed by never less than 2 dessert dishes - ahd must have 2 or 3 drink choices (iced tea, punch, coffee, etc.) The compliments of family and friends is a great triumph.
My cooking tragedies
Prepared a meal - served it, everyone ate and when we were all sitting around with full stomachs, I realized that I'd forgotten two dishes - they were still in the second refrigerator in the garage! But no one seemed to miss them!
