Got married in October 2004, I have three kids, one grandson and one granddaughter.
My favorite things to cook
cookies, cakes, old fashioned home cooked meals for my family, slow cooking meals, chili (I make a pretty mean chili, thanks to my Mom), banana bread, pies.....all sweets.....LOL.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Always have pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and Rotel dip on New Year's Eve.
My cooking triumphs
I make a mean chili, banana bread that my kids devour within a day, pretty good banana pudding, and my baked beans and sweet potatoes are a must on holidays, according to my kids.
My cooking tragedies
Can't make pie crust or homemade biscuits to save my life.

My Mom's Parmesan Chicken
My very picky son and husband LOVED this, not to mention me, lol. I followed the recipe, with the exception of the wine. I used spaghetti sauce instead. Paired it with whole wheat spaghetti noodles and romaine salad. Fantastic!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches
I, like others, used a 3lb pork butt roast instead of ribs. Cooked it in the crockpot with the beef broth on high for 4 hours. Then I turned it down to low for 2 more hours. So tender I had to remove it from the crockpot with a slotted spoon! I pulled it apart, emptied the broth from the crockpot. Then I decided to play with my cheap honey bbq sauce. I added about 1/4-1/2 cup of cider vinegar to it, to make it taste more like my husband's native North Carolina bbq sauce. HUGE hit!!! Hubby and son ate til they were sick, lol! Will definitely make again!!

Delicious Cinnamon Baked Apples
Delicious! It really needs a lot more liquid, though. I took one of the other changes someone else made to heart, and added apple juice instead of water, but I added about a cup. And since I didn't have vanilla sugar, I added a tsp of vanilla to the apple juice. It turned out great! Next time, I may cut back a bit on the cinnamon, it was a tad bit overwhelming. Still added it to my recipe box!!
