About this Cook
Hawaiian girl born and raised, lived in california for two years...back in this islands. What can I say? My life revolves around food and all I think about is what I am going to be making next in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
spaghetti is my absolute favorite, and i also love cooking local food from hawaii.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every new years we make traditional Hawaiian/local food - Lau Lau, lomi salmon, mochi, etc. It's one of my favorite times of the year!
My cooking triumphs
Ramen from scratch...homemade broth! shoyu eggs! boiled spinach! Green Onions! Pork belly! Also I make a mean salsa that EVERYONE always asks for the recipe afterwards :D
My cooking tragedies
sad mini cheesecakes :(

Di's Delicious Deluxe Deviled Eggs
Fabulous! Did the recipe to scale for 18 servings since i had 9 eggs...and they turned out delicious. Took them to a goodbye party and they were all gone quick. Loved the crunch from the celery and the onion!!!

Simple BBQ Ribs
SO delicious, and SOOO tender! Followed the recipe to a T and it was perfect. My mother used to boil her ribs before grilling and they were always juicy and soft. This is nice because grilling isn't easy for me...we share a grill with neighbors in the building out at the pool...a little inconvenient. I love being able to re-create BBQ ribs, one of my favorite ways to eat pork, in my own kitchen!

Dawn's Candied Walnuts
these are divine. i was confused at first about when to start counting down the '8 minutes'....8 minutes as soon as you put it on the stove? or 8 minutes after it start boiling? so, i just started the 8 minutes as soon as i turned the burner on, while also using a candy thermometer to check the temp...and it worked! did a test batch first, and now that i know this is fool proof, delicious, and hella easy, i will be making a whole bunch of these candied walnuts to give away for christmas!
