About this Cook
My cooking tragedies
I have to share this with the world now it seems but only because I am able to laugh at myself. When I was about 12 I took one of my mothers cook books off the shelf one afternoon. I was bored (we didn't have internet or video games then) so I decided to make something. I came across this recipe for mer ring( or that's the way I read it, I now know it is merringe and you use it on pies!) I thought what the heck is this. I mixed it all up and put it in a baking dish and in the oven. I cooked it according to the directions and couldn't figure out why it looked so wrong when it came out. If you can imagine a thin sugary slimy layer in the bottom of a pan. I thought ok and this is supposed to feed how many? About this time my mother came into the kitchen and asked what is that? I said it's mer ring. What? let me she the recipe....:o( to this day she still laughs at me.

White Bread For The Bread Machine
This is a great recipe with whole wheat flour also. I used Canola oil the first time as I didn't have vegetable oil...YUCK. My fault though. I used olive oil the next time and it was great.
