Maple Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2014
The good: easy to make, good texture. Good base cookie recipe The bad: hardly tasted the maple. I can't find maple extract where i live so had to do without.

Pan Seared Red Snapper

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2013
Good recipe, quick and easy with just a few ingredients needed. I didn't have green onion so I used onion. I was out of ground ginger too but it still turned out pretty good. As others suggested, i marinated the fish and reduced the sauce. This is something I will make again.

Pan Fried Halibut

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2013
Flavor was good but i didn't like how the crust became soggy. I think it's because of the egg. I usually cover with flour only. Also, i find that 1 cup of flour is too much. For one pound of fish sliced in fingers, i hardly used half of it.

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
I love chocolate crinkles, and this was my first attempt at making them. I got a bit worried when, after 12 minutes of baking, the cookies were still very soft, but as they cooled they solidified and were just great! The outside is a bit crunchy while inside it's fudgy and chewy. I had to put the plate away to stop myself from eating too much. I greased my pan instead of using parchment paper, and it turned out fine. I also froze the batter for about an hour, as I live in a hot and humid country and I was scared of having runny batter. Next time I'll try the advice of another reviewer and put some dark chocolate.

Chicken with 20 Cloves of Garlic

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2013
Chicken was moist and tasty. I made extra and froze them. I hope they will turn out as good as fresh ones. Putting just 4 out of 5 stars because there seems to be something missing, I don't know what...

Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread No-Bakes

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2013
Pretty good. I reduced the peanut butter so as not to overpower the nutella, but it still kinda did, and the bars turned out crumbly. I guess i should have added more nutella to make it stickier. Still tasty and makes good topping on ice cream.

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2013
I dont have a grill so i baked this then set the oven to broil once the inside was almost cooked. It was great, although a bit bland inside. I marinated for about 15 minutes. Next time i'll probably marinate it much longer.

Baked Snapper with Citrus and Ginger

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2013
Had this tonight and it exceeded my expectations! The ginger made it really hot and spicy, and i didnt even put the full amount. I'm giving it just a 4 because i need about 10 minutes more cooking time and i found that the soy sauce was too much.

Spanish Rice Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2013
Pretty good basic recipe. I used chicken instead of beef, and cooked in just one oven-proof metal saucepan. I put one whole bell pepper, homemade marinara sauce instead of crushed tomatoes, and taco sauce instead of chili or salsa. I skipped the sugar too.

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2013
Great recipe! Easy to make and a nice balance of sweet and spicy. I followed the recipe (including chili paste). Next time I will reduce the ginger (too much for my liking) and maybe add cilantro.

Thai Ground Chicken Basil

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2013
As good as the one served in restaurants! Had it for dinner last night with my husband and we were happy with how it turned out. We didnt have fish sauce so we just put more soy sauce, and we winged it with the chilis we had so it turned out too spicy but otherwise it's great!

Cinnamon Teacake

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2013
I was excited to make it and decided to pour the batter in muffin cups since I didn't have a small pan. After baking for 20 minutes it was still a little soft and gooey but I thought it would firm up. It didn't, and adding the toppings made it seem even more gooey. The flavor was only ok.

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2013
Great recipe! Tried it for dinner tonight and my husband and I loved it! I used 2 cloves of garlic and a bit more pepper to balance the sweetness of the maple syrup. I also used light soy sauce to make it less salty. Will definitely make this again, with the variations suggested!

Polvorones de Canele (Cinnamon Cookies)

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2013
Easy to make and ends up with good texture but the flavor somehow lacks a punch... I may have to tweak the cinnamon portions to make it tastier.

Pasta Pomodoro

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2013
Wonderful! I used fresh tomatoes and added a bit more garlic, basil and pepper. Sometimes i add sliced chicken breast. This can be added as the sauce cooks, to make the chicken really tender and flavorful. Or, pan-fry or grill the chicken separately and top on pasta. Shrimp works too!
