About this Cook
I learned to cook over an open fire at Boy Scout camp. When I got home and used my recipes on a stove, I found out it was a lot easier and my cooking skills grew from there. Now that I'm older, I work in an office and cannot wait to get home to cook. I'd love to be a chef but hate working nights, weekends and holidays.
My favorite things to cook
Italian and German foods as well as holiday cookies. Quick and easy recipes are high on my list as well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade Christmas ravioli. My grandparents would start to make the ravioli a few weeks before Christmas and freeze them. On Christmas day we would finally get to taste them. Sometimes, they were better than the presents we received. As we got older, we would learn each step in the process. Now I make ravioli and share with my friends and family.
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to cook my family's recipes and having my old Italian Grandmother tell me they are better than hers. I'm honored when she asks my advice.
My cooking tragedies

Asparagus and Pancetta Salad
this was a good choice for our valentines dinner side dish. only change i made was serving the asparagus warm and using 1 T of whole dijon mustard. the lemon juice and garlic add a nice flavor to the asparagus.

Blue Cheese Crusted Filet Mignon with Port Wine Sauce
i made this for our valentines dinner and my wife who just likes plain steak with nothing on it raved about this recipe. the only change i made was not putting the steaks on a cookie sheet and just used the oven safe pan for the broiling. less dishes that way. there was one special treat about this recipe...all the topping that melts off the steak makes a great crispy grilled cheese when it hits the pan. mmmmm!!!
