Bacon Cheddar Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2011
Five star recipe! Made exactly as indicated, except I also mixed in a tsp or two of the warm bacon grease to the yolk mixture for added flavor. Hey, if you're going to eat egg yolks, you might as well go all the way right? Also used full-fat, regular Hellman's mayo and full-fat cheese. Major hit at the party.

No Beans About It - Chili

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
Love the red wine in this recipe. Think it makes all the difference. My recipe was slighty modified since I used ground deer meat - but the main change was that I added two pinches of cinnamon and used a purpose onion. Ate over crushed Saltines with cheese and sour cream. Yum!

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
The sauce was very good. I think next time I will fry the shrimp and then mix them in the sauce. I also would definitely double the sauce recipe. I served it over a bed of sushi rice.

Turkey Tetrazzini II

Reviewed: May 17, 2010
Excellent and easy recipe. Having read some of the other reviews, I chose to add a bit of garlic, as well as salt, and small amounts of cracked black pepper, white pepper, and a pinch of red pepper. Not spicy, just delicious.

Mini Cheesecakes I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Excellent. Even took others suggestion and made a batch with mini chocolate chips and oreo cookie base. Both were excellent. I think next time, I'll add a bit of lemon zest for a little more zing to the cheesecake.

French Dip Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Made this recipe for a party. Everyone loved it - especially the men. I did make one change, I omitted the bouillon and substituted beef broth for the water. Next time, I might try 3/4 tsp rosemary. Oh, and I just ground some regular black pepper in with the other spices instead of the whole peppercorn.

Ham Salad Spread

Made according to recipe. Good use for leftover ham, but just okay. Makes a great appetizer dish to bring for a New Year's Eve Party using your left over ham from Christmas.

St. Louis Toasted Ravioli

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2007
Made these for my ladies Bunco night and they were a hit. Only gave it four stars because I found that the pasta seemed a little hard and chewy and once they get cold, they get really hard and chewy. I'll make this again, but next time I might try actually cooking the ravioli first and then breading and frying to see if that makes a difference in the pasta texture.

Company Couscous

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2007
Made this recipe as directed with the exception that I used whole wheat couscous. Mediocre at best. Family wasn't crazy for it and son and hubby didn't even finish eating their portion. I threw the rest away. I can't even think of a way to make it better - couscous just isn't something we're going to eat - it's boring and bland.

This was a huge hit at my work. Everyone loved it and several asked for the recipe. I read a few of the reviews and some said it was too sweet - well, I thought it was perfect!!!

German Coleslaw

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2007
I love coleslaw and this one is uniquely, different from the traditional creamy slaw. I love the bite that the vinegar yields. Although, I agree that the recipes make a lot more dressing than one head (or pre-shredded bag) of cabbage can handle. Either cut recipes in half, double vegetables, or pour some off after tossing slaw well. Served cold is best.

I made this recipe and they tasted a little snow cone-ish to me. Maybe I used too much ice or something.

Very good. I might have put a little too much sugar, was very sweet. Next time I might try with green chilis for a Mexican flavor.

Hamburger Hash

Excellent and super easy - just four ingredients. I used beef base because I didn't have boullion. Recipe is great - wouldn't change a thing. But might experiment by adding carrots, peas, etc. when feeling adventurous.

Tangy Honey Glazed Ham

Glaze was very good. I also cut up some sweet potatos and put them in the roaster with the ham and glazed them along with the ham. Made the sweet potatos super yummy.
