Spicy Mango Sweet Potato Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
This was a surprise...I couldn't imagine how this was going to work out, but I had everything on hand so I tried it - it has a great taste with some kick. I would say it's almost like an American curry substitute. I'm eating the dish by itself (and I didn't add chicken), because, like a previous reviewer, I can't see how I can add in more starch. I'll keep checking back to see if I can find something else to put under it. I think I'll try some asian noodles next time...

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2010
I have usually hated homemade pizza crusts, but this one has made me a believer for homemade pizza again! Super easy, super fast, and still good! Thank you for the recipe.

Citrus Cabbage Slaw

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
I agree - great light and cool side dish. I used broccoli slaw instead of cabbage and cauliflower and celery instead of the celery seed with more onion (I love onion). It feels healthy and is tasty as well!

Sweet Potato and Apple Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
I used canned yams (what I had on hand) and thought it turned out well. I would use less brown sugar than called for, however, and I wish I had cooked it longer than 30 min (my apples were still hard). Also used walnuts in place of the pecans, which I thought was fantastic!

Middle Eastern White Beans

I didn't think there was anything special with this recipe. The sauce was bland and not worth the effort. Sorry, it wasn't for me.

Hummus Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2006
I had my doubts, but this was fantastic. I bought pre-sliced veggies (red, green, yellow peppers, broccoli, mushrooms, onions) for $2.49 and then Jiffy pizza crust for .59, and it turned out great! I used a blend of regular hummus with garlic hummus and it was great (I usually have hummus on hand). A very nice change of pace and it still feels like I cooked a "real meal!"

Grilled Orange-and-Bourbon Salmon

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2006
My mother is a huge salmon fan and loved this. She ate two portions and asked for the recipe! (Not good enough to get me to eat salmon, but if you're a salmon lover, you'll love it)

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2006
I loved this recipe--they're so much better than the store veggie burgers! And, I was surprised at how well the "burgers" stayed together. Great flavor and a great diet food. Thanks so much for the recipe!!!

Cole Slaw Dressing

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
This is amazing...I never knew a non-mayo slaw could be so good. I'm watching my calories, so I substituted egg beaters in for the yolk and 1/3 c. 1% milk in for the half and half, and it still turned out great. Thanks so much for the recipe - it's a keeper!

Two-Bean and Mango Salad

Reviewed: May 17, 2006
This is all right. I added kiwi since I had some on hand and used red onion since that's all I had... but the bean-fruit combination doesn't work for me. It's decent diet food, but I won't be making it again.

Broccoli, Corn, and Green Bean Saute

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2006
Per the previous reviewer, I tried this recipe with cauliflower in place of the beans, and it was GREAT!!!! I can't even imagine using green beans for this. I also used the feta with sundried tomatoes. Great consistency, and rave reviews from all. Will make repeatedly!!!

Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Kielbasa

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2006
This may go up to a 3 if it reheats well...I was expecting more. I used a 7 blend high quality brown rice, and the sauce works wonderfully with that. However, I don't think the sauce matches the kielbasa very well. I used polish kielbasa, so maybe that was an issue. This was edible and not horrible, and it might be really good with a different kind of meat. Probably won't make again.

Paige's Feta Slaw

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2006
This is OK. Definitely a good change from the usual mayo based slaw. I followed the recipe exactly, except used Italian Salad Dressing instead of the water and Italian seasoning and white onion instead of green onion (what I had on hand). Tasted good, but taste is definitely strong (feta is a great balance). Will make it occasionally for potlucks and summer get-togethers. VERY easy.

Bodacious Broccoli Salad

So good. I think I may make a little extra dressing next time, but it keeps well as is (I think I'll be bringing it to work for lunch). I also used pre-cooked bacon. Easy and still tasted good.

Pork Tenderloin in Bourbon

This is a juicy and good recipe. I used Jack Daniels since I didn't have bourbon. It smelled strong when I put it into the oven, but worked out great.

Fancy Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2005
After other reviews, I was afraid this would be overpowering, but I thought it, if anything, lacked distinctive flavor! It's good, but nothing super special. Maybe a little more mayo & dill and some onion next time...

Maple-Garlic Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2005
This recipe definitely gives decent flavor. I used it on country-style pork ribs. However, it was very maple-sryupy. I may put in a little BBQ sauce to balance out the sugar. Recipe does reheat extremely well.

Couscous and Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: May 22, 2005
This is honestly the first time I've been disappointed in an allrecipes.com recipe. It was bland, the texture was mushy, and I don't think I can ever eat a cucumber again; it more or less was eating straight cucumbers with couscous. The recipe went straight in the trash. :(

Baked Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2005
This is quick, easy, and yummy. I, too, used the rosemary (I didn't have any oregano), and I didn't know sweet potatoes could be this good without brown sugar and marshmallows. Thanks for a great recipe!
