Knodel

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2013
My father's great grandfather came from Austria and his family taught my mother how they made them. My families recipe(not wrote down but like Margaret, you had to follow Mom around the kitchen) has a lot of onions and a lot of very small diced Velvetta Cheese brick in them. They are boiled in water(I add some chicken broth to the water for a little added flavor)for an hour. Some stay together and some don't. Doesn't matter, good anyway you can get them. I understand another way to make them is with liver. My mother was kind enough not to go there. :)

Jalapeno Snacks

These things are absolutely delicious! I picked all my home grown peppers to make these and they were so good that I had to go to the store and buy more for another snack tonight!

Coleslaw with a Difference!

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2011
This was OK. I must admit that this recipe made me realize that I can go outside the box and change up my old usual recipe. So next time I make my coleslaw I will definitely be adding extras. TY for waking up this sleeping cook. :)

Men don't like quiche? My husband really enjoyed this and it is an easy and quick meal after a long day at work. Great with a salad.

Microwave Tacos

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2011
Yummm! I had already started browning the meat and realized I didn't want to make another taco from a packet where they're covered in that gooey sauce. I tried this and it is delicious. I did add a more heaping tsp of the garlic powder. Will definitely put in my recipe box and make this again! TY for sharing.

Never Enough Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
This sounded really good so I went all out and instead of canned mushrooms, I cooked some fresh in butter and garlic to add even a bit more flavor. Everyone else seemed to like them alright but for the extra work I think I will go back to my old green beans and mushroom soup mixture and call it good.

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2005
This was a very good tasting pie crust and extremely tender. So tender, in fact, that it all slumped to the bottom of my pie pan after 2 minutes in the oven. I just used another like pie pan to 'squash' it back into place and baked it sandwiched like this. Turned out real good (just not so pretty)but next time I won't use nonstick pans for this recipe!!!

Crab Quiche II

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2005
I hate to be the odd man out on this one and so will take the blame for something going amiss. I DID use real crab meat and the dish came out tasting too strong and 'fishy'(?) to me. I had added a slight amount of fresh steamed broccoli and maybe the two were not compatable. In the future I might use the quiche recipe itself and add different ingredients, though. Sorry, Debra, it was probably something I did.

Death by Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2005
We had a drive-in that used to make these and they were my very favorites. I was excited to find this recipe but not so excited to eat them. I probably did wrong when I used processed cheese slices. As my mother says "everything tastes good when someone else makes it" I'm not sure if I will go to the trouble to try again.

Blackened Prime Rib

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2005
My family agreed that we really didn't taste any difference in the meat. To prepare this was time consuming and to no advantage. Sorry, Bill, but the 'old classic' is easier and faster for working mothers pressed for time.

Lobster Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2005
This was okay. Where I live, seafood is at a premium price and so would much rather eat the real meat and not complicate it with added ingredience. I used almost 2 lbs. of crab legs to get one pound of meat for this recipe. That cost me an arm and a leg. Cost the crab an arm and a leg, too! :)

Amish Yumazuti

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2005
I made this just like 'Connie' did, but for the tomatoes I added Original Rotel canned tomatoes and also added about 1 12 T. of Tiger Sauce (anyone hear of it? You will find it in with your ketchup, BBQ sauces, etc. Delicious!) This dish was very, very tastey and my guys loved it. Will definately make it again.

Chili I

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2005
I cut this recipe in half because I wasn't sure what I was getting into. Wow! Should've made the whole thing. Three in my family and we were scrapping the bottom of the pan. It has an unusual taste for chili but it really was yummy. I did add a bit of hickory salt and comparatively everyone liked that even better. Next time I might cut down on the sugar a bit. Will make again.

Spicy Mexican Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
My best friend asked us over for Chili last night and I took this salad. It was a humongous hit! Everyone had at least two servings and there was very little left over despite the fact that I doubled the recipe for our party of six. I did add some black olives and an avacado to it. Will definately make again!
