Simply Traditional Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
This lasagna went over BIG time in my house! I followed the recipe, making the following changes: added 1/2 cup chopped onions to the browned meat, used 2 24 oz. jars marinara sauce (I used Bertolli Olive oil & garlic), plus, i used 2 lbs. FRESHLY GRATED mozzerella! I really could taste a HUGE difference in the cheese! I bought a big, 2 lb. block of mozzerella, put it through my Cuisinart, and grated it up. I'm telling you, I think this made the biggest difference of all! Try it! :D Excellent Lasagna!! My daughter hated lasagna - now she LOVES it! :D

Mrs. Sigg's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2006
For Father's Day, I told my husband to pick anything that he wanted for me to bake, and he chose peanut butter cookies. I normally don't make peanut butter cookies, so i didn't have a recipe for one. I chose this recipe and added the additional 1/2 cup of peanut butter as well as rolled them in sugar before baking. They were fantastic! My husband has already had 6 - and i just made them! Awesome recipe - thanks!

Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2006
This was my first time making potato salad and i'm happy to say it was a huge success!! I followed the recipe exactly, however, i cooked the potatoes a bit longer - 25 minutes and added a bit of pickle juice at the end. I also used 1 cup regular mayo and 1 cup light. My husband gave it "two thumbs up" and my sister, who normally doesn't like potato salad, liked this a lot. :) Definite Keeper!

Black Forest Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2006
This cake is absolutely delicious! I took the advice of making the cherry filling before making the cake part, and it had plenty time to cool down. I followed the recipe as is, and was very happy with the results - as was everyone else who ate it! I would suggest that if possible, try making this cake 1 day before you plan on serving it - there's no comparison on how much better it tastes. At minimum, try to make it the morning of the day you want to serve it. Great!!

Easy Pavlova

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2006
A friend asked me to make this for him - he lived in New Zealand for a few years, and this was popular there. I had never heard of it, but am always game to try something new. I'm so glad i did - it turned out great! Everyone loved it - including my friend! Next time i make it, I will put the strawberries on the bottom and spread the whipped cream out to the edges. I layered the top with strawberries and kiwis. Yum!

Baked Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2006
My whole family loves this recipe for squash - it's the only way my daughter will eat it. I don't add the salt and pepper, either, and it tastes great!

Mom's Best Waffles

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2005
I just made these for breakfast. They're quite simple to make, which is a definite bonus. I thought they tasted great, too. My husband thought they needed a little bit more flavor, so next time I'll add some vanilla and a bit of cinnamon to the mix. His favorite is the William's Sonoma Beligium Waffle Mix - but at $7.00 a can (and you have to use 1/2 of can per batch!) it's kinda expensive. Like I said, I'll tweak this and I'm sure we'll have a winner! Thanks!

Pecan Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2004
Wow! Everyone LOVED this cake! I made it without the pecans and it still tasted great! I let the cake cool some, then made the glaze and put it on the cake while it was warm. Immediately after glazing the cake, I put it in the refrigerator. The next morning it had an "outer orange-flavored crust" while the inside was moist, firm and delicious. Thanks for sharing!

These were unbelievable! I too followed the advice of others and cut back on the tomato sauce as well as eliminating the water. All my guests raved about them!! Thanks Debbie!

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2003
Oh My Gosh! This cake is soooo good! I doubled the filling and was glad I did! I brought it to church and the guys were going nuts! Love it!! Update: After making this recipe countless times, one of the main things in making this perfect is to allow the cake to cook fully --meaning, don't take it out until there are NO crumbs that come out on the tester (i.e. toothpick). unlike other cakes, where a few crumbs are ok, i've found that this cake is better when there aren't any...unless you like it a bit doughy in the center....which, i don't. :)

Egg and Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2003
Made this recipe last Sunday for everyone playing/singing on our music team. The guys were loving it! Even the women who were "watching their weight" secretly snagged a piece! By time church was finished, there was no casserole left! Gonna make it again - thanks!

Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2003
Awesome!!!! Both husband and daughter (as well as myself) thoroughly enjoyed this! I added a bit more garlic (we love garlic) and didn't have any mozzerella cheese, but it was great without it! I'll definitely add the cheese next time - thanks for a great recipe!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: May 19, 2001
I have to agree with everyone else - these are the best brownies I've ever made! I too, doubled the recipe and used Hershey's Dutched Processed cocoa. After 25 minutes in the oven, the brownies came out fudgy and delicious! I added a "splash" of milk to the frosting and it came out smooth and creamy. I don't know if this made a difference, but after spreading the frosting on the brownies (while they were warm), I then covered them and put them in the refrigerator for a couple hours. To say they got "rave reviews" is an understatement - I think there was even some "jealousy" involved!! ;) Thanks for ending my brownie search!
