Snickerdoodle Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
This is a coffee cake. Next time I might keep the topping in the middle and frost with icing for more of a "dessert cake". Uses ingredients you have on hand and very quick and easy. Great cinnamon flavor.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
I'd give more than 5 stars if I could! I made as written, except didn't have any preserves-didn't need it with the sugar. My fruit combo, which was beeeutiful, was nectarines, mango, kiwi, strawberries and fuji apple. Looked like the AR photo on recipe home page...and the cinnamon chips totally rocked!!

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
My family loved this b/c it had bacon and cheese on it-I gave it 3 stars b/c I thought it was kind of weird. I used the Teriyaki Glaze from Kikkoman-didn't like the "tangy-ness" of the flavor combo with the ranch. I prefer to just use bbq sauce on chix, then cheese and bacon. Definitely edible, but probably won't make again.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2008
Not that this needs another perfect rating, but WOW!! I used this for some homemade cocktail meatballs and can't wait to try it on ribs. This will probably be in my fridge all summer long! Thanks for a keeper!

Tortellini Salad with Grilled Tomato Vinaigrette

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
I messed up the dressing after trying to adjust the recipe to 40 servings. Way too much for my food processor and I was running out of time and patience, so I used bottled sun-dried tomato vinaigrette, which worked very well. I used the tri-color tortellini, red and yellow peppers, genoa salami and pepperoni. It looked amazing, so bright and colorful-great presentation for my graduation party! Oh, and it actually tasted great, too!!

Bacon Cheddar Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
Loved these!! Adjusted recipe for 7 dozen eggs-came out great. Used bacon crumbles from a bag. Even chopped some of the eggs to make a different egg salad.

Parmesan Spinach Balls

Reviewed: May 26, 2008
Very good! I used fresh, chopped spinach. Also added bacon and onions sauteed in garlic per other suggestions. We preferred them warm, not room temp. Served with a bistro sauce (like bloomin onion dip from Outback).

Restaurant-Style Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: May 3, 2008
WOW!! Incredible flavor! I've never had the OG version, but those that I've served it to that have say it is "spot on"! Used bulk italian sausage and omitted bacon (don't like chewy, soggy bacon in soup)-husband says his new fave!! Can't wait to make again!

Italian Beef in a Bucket

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
Very good! Used rump roast-didn't have 18 hours to cook, but was still tender (cooked about 8 hours in crock pot)-served on hoagies with melted cheese-yum!

Marinade for Steak I

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2008
Used on some Strip steaks-poked steaks with fork and marinated in frig for about 3-4 hours. Flavor was great, next time will marinate for longer time. I'm sure the onions would've been great, too, if husband hadn't forgot them on the grill :) Will definitely use again!

My Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2008
Pretty good recipe-My mixture was a little dry, added a little more mayo. Next time will not add cayenne pepper, took away from the sweet taste of the crab-the Old Bay and garlic are enough seasoning. Also, will not roll in bread crumbs-mine were a bit "dusty", prefer the way I'm used to-without bread crumb coating. Husband loved them, will definitely make again!

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2008
Never made biscuits before because I love the frozen ones from the groc store and didn't think it could be easier, I was wrong!! I used my food processor-quick and a lot cheaper than the frozen ones! My daughter requested bisq & gravy for her 6 yr b-day dinner (that's my girl!), so I gave these a shot-very impressed! I rolled thinner to make more biscuits, but next time will follow directions to make 6 large biscuits. I also used real butter instead of oil. The leftovers were still delicious this morning-soft and moist! Thanks!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Liked these cookies-easy and quick to make-like using 1/4 cup ea-way quicker than tablespoons! Definetly dense and chewy. Will be making these again!

Sweet and Sour Drumettes

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
These were pretty easy and cheap. I thought the sauce would be thicker-didn't want to take the time to thicken it up myself. Served with sticky white rice (sauce was great on rice). Like that recipe used simple ingredients everyone has in their pantry! Cook time was right on.

Cream Cheese Squares

Extremely easy! A bit rich. Don't know if we like better warm out of the oven or out of fridge next day! Don't know if the taste was worth ALL of those calories!!!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
Great recipe. Followed recipe exactly...except-no salt, fennel seeds or parsley (kids don't do green things in food). Used turkey italian sausage, fresh mozzarella and parmesan and low-fat cottage cheese instead of ricotta (what I had). Thought it could've used more garlic, but DH said it was perfect as is. Did 3 layers of noodles (9 plenty) and baked as directed. Think the fresh mozzarella made the dish-definetly my new lasagna recipe.

Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2008
I make this butter in bulk for parties where I'm serving a vegetable medley. It gives the veggies a little something extra rather than just serving steamed. I roll in plastic wrap, chill, then slice rounds into steamed veggies to season. Extra's can go on garlic bread... or whatever!! Great basic!
