Gary's Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: May 21, 2014
This was an awesome recipes. I LOVE mushrooms so I was so excited to try it. Like most reviewers, I halfed almost everything but still had enough stuffing for 3 times as many mushrooms. I used probably half a stick of butter. A quarter for drizzling on too of the mushrooms, and a quarter in the chicken stuffing mixture. I also used real crab, from a can. And I poured dry wine into the bottom of the oven pan with the butter. Baked for about 16 minutes. It tasted wonderful!

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2014
Perfect recipe! Made it for the whole family and they loved it. The only adjustments I would make is cutting the bread/pecan recipe by half ATLEAST. Probably a 1/3 of the amount would be fine. I had lots of leftover mix. Also I used honey mustard instead of dijon mustard because that's what I had on hand. As for baking, 10 mintures per inch of salmon is a good starter. I baked it for about 15 minutes and it was fine. I also made my own sauce to go with the dish that gave the sweet salmon a tinge of sourness. A simple mixture of heavy whipping cream, salt, lemon juice, fresh parsley, and a little bit of butter. This will definitely be my go to salmon recipe from now on!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
Ok so this is definitely a very easy recipe, followed it exactly besides doubing the sauce/mushrooms. Also added some heavy cream and chicken broth. For some reason I didn't find the dish very tasteful. I did skip out on the sherry entirely because I didn't have any, which might have been the difference. I will try again!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
Perhaps I just did it wrong but I couldn't get the icing to work with SO much sugar and such little milk and corn syrup. Ending up adding heavy cream, a dash of salt, and making it that way. Turned out fine, not very glossy, but after drying it looked just as cute as I would've wanted.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
These cookies actually turned out really good. Followed the suggestions of other users and added a bit more flour and sugar and vanilla extract. Only thing I would say is that I made my cookies about 3 inches across (heart shaped) and 1/3 inch thick, and it was in the oven for about 7-8 minutes and it wasn't fully cooked, no browning. I'd probably do 10-12 next time. Otherwise, great recipe! And the dough is really easy to work with, which is awesome.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
Used white chocolate and used hershey chocolate for brown stripes. Everyone LOVED it. It's super easy to make but be sure to work fast, because the chocolate thickens super quickly after it melts.

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2014
Wonderful recipe, and really simple. Definitely use one pan, just sear the chicken, set it aside, make the sauce, and put the chicken back in! Like other reviews, the family said it was a restaurant style dish. Will definitely make again!

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
With these additional ingredients (Scaled to this serving size), this recipe was AMAZING. I added: - add 1/2 cup corn - 3 whole green chiles, chopped - 2 canned chipotle chiles, minced - 1/2 tspn mexican spice blend (Cook the chicken for 5 minutes with this spice, and then shred it into the mixture later on) - 1 tsp cumin powder - 1 tsp garlic powder Takes some time, but totally worth it.

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
Not bad, I used BBQ sauce instead of teriyaki. Also i used very thin slices of chicken breasts, and it cooked too fast, and made it too dry. Other than that, i think this recipe would've been good.

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2013
This was a wonderful cake, my only complaint was that it was too sweet. BUT, I will say that's my own fault, I did not make a whipped cream frosting and instead used a Cream Cheese Frosting (also found on this website) but I think that overloaded the sugar. No matter, my family loved it anyways and it's very easy to make. I did indeed refrigerate the cake for a whole night soaking in the milk, and it was perfect. Will definitely make it again!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2013
This recipe was awesome! Though it took me atleast 2 hours to prepare the entire thing. I multiplied the serving size by 1.5 for a family of six and i was enough for two meals. I used more ground beef than I did sausage, and actually didn't even use the entire 12 oz. pack, more like 8 oz. Definitely use it, the sausage brings lots of flavor to the sauce. I also did only 2 layers because my pans simply weren't tall enough but I don't think it matters how many layers you use. I did sauce-pasta-ricotta-mozarella-sauce-pasta-ricotta-mozarella-parmesan. My family loved it! Also, I did heat the sauce with the meat because I wanted to cook the meat a bit before I baked it and thought why not just add the sauce? I didn't cook it for more than 20 minutes so definitely don't need several hours for the sauce. I did not use fennel seeds because I didn't have any, nor did I have Italian Seasoning. To make up for it, I used 1/4 tsp of oregano, rosemary, and dried basil. Again, the sauce was delicious and will now be my go-to sauce for all pasta dishes. Thank you for this wonderful recipe!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
This apple crisp was good, but i went in with the intention that it would taste similiar to apple pie. This is a much DRIER version, hence the word "Crisp". If you're looking for something more cruncy and chewy, than this recipe is fine. It's also much easier to make than apple pie. I actually used all the water advised, and almost wish I used more since I wanted more moisture. I'd rather stick to apple pie, but this wasn't bad.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
This carrot cake was perfectly moist and tasted wonderful. I did add some adjustments like adding 1/4 tsp nutmeg and an extra teaspoon of vanilla extract and cinnamon. I used the pecans and I think it made it better! Definitely would make this again.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
Honestly i think this has become my go-to frosting. SUPER easy and it tastes amazing! I used it on my carrot cake and it was perfect. Only thing I changed was doubling the sugar, so that it's more sweet rather than cheesy.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2013
This pecan pie tasted really good once it came out and cooled, but it didn't solidify at ALL even after an hour. And after it hardened, it was like a rock :/ I think it calls for too much sugar. Again, tastes great, but next time I make it i will make some adjustments. Go lower on the sugar, and increase the baking time. Some other reviewers suggested putting it on the tray of the oven that gets less heat, I would too, the top browns very fast.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2013
Wonderful meatloaf, loved it! But definitely use more meat than the number of serving sizes you wish for, because it shrinks when it bakes.

Baked Lemon Chicken with Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2013
This was SUPER bland. I made mashed potatoes and it tasted fine with that. The mushrooms definitely need to be doubled. I'd make again, but probably with a different mushroom sauce recipe (with soy sauce) and I'd add spices to the chicken.
